A slimmish book is about 50,000 words, and a heavyweight book 100,000+. 10 days to reach 1000 words, 500 days - about 15 months - to get to the 50,000 mark. 1000 days to reach 100,000 - a bit less than three years.
Joyce's Ulysses (exactly 250,000 words) would take 2500 days; close to seven years.
