Anyone doing NaNoWriMo?
The National Novel Writing Month contest where you compete with yourself to write 50,000 words in one month?

So far I've got 10,255.

1. Is that going on now?
Yikes! I'm way behind...

Congrats to you on your 10K so far, though!

2. Yes!
I did a marathon writing session yesterday: 6,600 words. I am up to 26,000 words total!

3. No, but I had to finish putting this one out

Self promotion

That said, it is a good idea if you have a problem meeting deadlines

And yes, I've done the 50K words in one month...

Good luck in doing it and after that you may have a somewhat workable draft that you can use to edit

4. I wasn't brave enough to start a new post, but I'll gladly contribute to this one
I'm sitting at 38,361. Not bad for my first time doing this.

I'm having a blast, I must admit.

7. Nice!
That's quite a feat! To my lasting detriment I've never been good at consistent, high-volume writing, so something like this would likely be very good for me.

If I could get off my ass and actually do it, of course...

Congratulations on achieving a very impressive goal!

8. Thank you. And I can only give you this advice: do it.
Don't edit. Don't think. Just write. It may be crap, but at the end of the day, you'll have written something.

I know, it's hackneyed (am I using that word correctly? I do not know...) advice, and full of yummy cliche goodness, but it worked.

Or you could think about it this way: it's only 1,667 words a day.

5. I wish they'd pick another month besides November
I have way too many family obligations in November to commit enough time to finish a novel. But I'd love to do the NaNoWriMo sometime.

I've considered picking up their Novel in a Month kit and doing it myself at another time. I'd love to hear about your experience (and anyone else's) when the month is done.

9. Anyone here have their completed novels or
novels-in-progress available at NaNoWriMo for the rest of us to see?

It appears that today's the last day.

NaNoWriMo sounds fun, but I could never do it. Takes me forever to write anything.

10. I just wanted
to update that I finished! Two days early! I really enjoyed it as a creative exercise where you just write and write, damn that inner critic!

11. Congratulations on your fine accomplishment!
This thread is really inspiring me to give it a try. For far too long I've deceived myself by clinging to the notion that my busy schedule doesn't permit me to devote daily time to writing.

In contrast I'm sure that everyone else here has nothing but spare time. :sarcasm:

Don't think I'll wait until November, but maybe I will hold off until after the holidays. That would give me a fine opportunity to dedicate a New Year's Resolution to the task!

Again, congratulations!
