You Have Made a Difference - Welcome back to school to all my teacher friends! |
|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv0V93ihMlE&feature=player_embeddedPut it on full screen so you can read all the notes. :) I dare you not to cry. But hey last time I checked, 8 x 4 is not equal to 2. LOL Here's to another great year, DU teachers!! :grouphug:

1. Thank you so much, proud2Blib. |
|
I have saved every special note and picture that children have made for me since I returned to elementary art (after a stint in middle school). They are so wonderful and I treasure them all.
If our tech guy/(jerk) hadn't block youtube, I would forward this to all my colleagues.
Hope you have a great year, too! :toast:

2. It says there's a way to download it |
|
I've had that same thought. Youtube is blocked in most districts. I'd love to show this at school so I'm going to try to figure out a way. I'll let you know.

5. You can download easily at home with the link above each video |
|
the problem is, for us anyway, that we need RealPlayer and it isn't installed on our computers. I think I can get it... as long as I can justify it for educational purposes our tech dept. is pretty helpful. We're small.
But... teachers have access to youtube. Amazing, huh? I use video clips often for some of the summary stuff I do. The subject is so abstract that it helps having another explanation. The video series I use a lot was produced in the 60's or 70's and is only available for about $400 but the segments I need are on youtube.
And Brainiacs (the British version of Mythbusters) has some great stuff too. They are funny, the kids roar with laughter and the learning is awesome!

9. I can't access youtube at school. |
|
And since I bought a new computer last week, I am living in iTunes hell. Can't access my music on my old computer (which is temporarily dead) and unless I buy new music or import CDs, I'm stuck. Pretty pissed off. Some of the stuff on my older iTunes account is irreplaceable. It's really my own fault for not burning CDs when I bought the music. Also learned not to buy any music and load into my iPad. Can't burn a CD.
Techno hell. LOL

I didn't want to screw around with the converter so that I could play them on my non-ipod mp3 player. My Sandisk was a lot cheaper, has a radio, records, and it integrates more easily with my PC.

4. I'm resolved to be more positive this year |
|
Focus on the kids while I'm at school and not worry about the politics as much till I get home.
Wish me luck!

6. The return of the 12-14 hour days! |
|
Yeah, I'm ready! Back to back IEP meetings, 6 classes, 180 kids, yadda yadda yadda. You know the drill. But hey, my kids are terrific this year (so far) and they keep me going.

I don't see kids for a couple of weeks, but I'm deep into prep at this point, and looking forward to having them back.
I'll bet we all have a collection of notes like those used in the song; reminders of why we are teachers, and motivation to keep going, for sure.

8. I'm excited about this year, for the first time in a long time. |
|
At the end of last year, we knew we were going to lose teachers, and our principal sent out a survey to find out what people wanted (and were endorsed) to teach. I suggested that I would like to teach a Creative Writing elective, instead of a core class, and my suggestion was heard!
:woohoo:
So I will be teaching Creative Writing this year. How cool is that?

10. We're getting money for supplies |
|
I'm so darned excited about that I can barely stand it. I believe I will be buying $100 worth of pencils. LOL
Also our school board voted to a/c all the elementary buildings before school starts. That is something I never thought I would see.
