3. I'm a liberal
and I stand behind the GLBT community 100%!!!!!

I don't think all of the people posting here are liberals. I even think some are conservatives posting under liberal clothing to move the bar in the center. Although I can't provide definitive proof of that it's just a suspiscion.

6. Must post before I go to bed
So please forgive me for "cutting and running"

First, I think that gays should have the right to civil unions and rights to cover
their loved ones in illness, estates, etc. That is what a society does, protect those
who are part of it.

But I think that the "gay" issue as defined now, is not about gays at all, it's about the
fundies who would make life decisions for all of us, it's about politicians looking for
scapegoats and it's about money. They want money from singles to disappear down the rabbit
hole and not into the hands of their partners. I think that is the most powerful incentive
to these people is the financial one, they want that little cushion in pension systems everywhere which is wrong. If you earn it, it should go to your partner, no ifs, ands
or buts.

8. Thanks
I appreciate it, I just wish we could take some of the vehement self righteous and let them
see what it's like for gays who have partners with major health problems.

Our present health care system is a difficult maze of paperwork and co-payments for those of us with mainstream benefits but for those who fall outside the regs; its a nightmare & then we
have the issue of who makes the health decisions for the ill partner. Do we have to call
in the elderly parent to give permission for treatment while the partmer is excluded.

9. Agreed. I'm a guy who likes women, but that doesn't mean that guys
who like guys should have one bit fewer rights than I have.

And as for the other part? Hey, I like women, so why shouldn't women like women?

All's fair.

10. Love is Love, if it makes people better then God Bless it
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 11:10 PM by MissWaverly
It's better than the haters that walk around permanently sneering at the world and enjoy
the misery and suffering of others. Liberace never advocated bombing Iran. Heck, more
power to all who love, even the old lady that feeds her goldfish every day, hey!
I salute you!

:-)

11. Marriage in the eyes of the state is a contract
Capitalism is based on the freedom of private contract.

Why do religious fundamentalists hate capitalism?
