So please forgive me for "cutting and running"

First, I think that gays should have the right to civil unions and rights to cover
their loved ones in illness, estates, etc. That is what a society does, protect those
who are part of it.

But I think that the "gay" issue as defined now, is not about gays at all, it's about the
fundies who would make life decisions for all of us, it's about politicians looking for
scapegoats and it's about money. They want money from singles to disappear down the rabbit
hole and not into the hands of their partners. I think that is the most powerful incentive
to these people is the financial one, they want that little cushion in pension systems everywhere which is wrong. If you earn it, it should go to your partner, no ifs, ands
or buts.
