Anybody ever successfully install Scientific Linux in Virtual Box? |
|
I put 5.5 on a server last year, but took it back off
I thought I'd like to have a Scientific Linux installation to play with, so I tried putting 6 on vb. It's necessary to check "Enable PAE/NX" under Settings >> System >> Processor, but that wasn't enough: the installation gets about 3/43 of the way through and aborts. I switched to 5.5 and tried again several times: I repeatedly got "not enough memory" errors (virtual machine had 3+ gb ram and 10+ gb hdd) and the machine aborted. The only clue I found on the web was to mount the virtual disk as IDE instead of SATA, but that didn't help: got most of the way through and the installation aborts again

2. No. I don't want to pay for someone else's installation: I want to know what's going wrong with mine |
