1. Prairie dogs and bison cohabited for thousands of years |
|
The prairie dog knows the bison aren't interested in eating him for lunch and the bison are grateful the little prairie dogs are showing them where the holes are so they don't break their legs in them.
There's nothing particularly brave about the little guy. He's standing watch the way they all do, looking for more dangerous predators, ready to warn the rest of them if one approaches. Snakes and hawks are their biggest enemies outside of land developers putting up ticky tacky houses.

2. Thank you. I realised that, but you know how newspapers want to attach |

a funny story to such photos. Anyway, it's a funny picture in itself. Interesting about their usefulness to the bison.
There was a similar picture of a rat nibbling at a piece of some chopped meat that a leopard in a zoo was eating at his meal-time, evidently quite aware that the leopard wouldn't consider him an acceptable snack. When the leopard was sniffing him, he ignored him completely, and with an expression as much as to say, 'Don't make a nuisance of yourself.'
