WTF...seriously? (The latest regarding bird deaths)
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 10:27 AM by MorningGlow
Overeating and indigestion blamed for 1,000 turtle doves falling dead in Italy with strange blue stain on their beaks

Thousands of dead turtle doves that rained down on roofs and cars in an Italian town were victims of their on greed, an expert claimed today.

{snip} Official results on the Italian birds are due tomorrow, but Rodolfo Ridolfi, a director at the regional zoological institute, said:'We are fairly confident the birds died as a result of massive indigestion brought on by over-eating.

'The most likely cause are discarded sunflower seeds that were found on an industrial estate close to where the bodies of the turtle doves were found.

'In essence the birds were greedy, ate too many of the seeds - which we have found inside them during autopsies - and this brought on the indigestion that led to their death.'

Okay, so... :wtf: The blue stain on their beaks is indicative of "poisoning or hypoxia (lack of oxygen)", the latter of which might indicate that their navigation systems were thrown off and they flew too high. But now they friggin' died of INDIGESTION? :eyes:

Okay. They need to just...stop now. Stop talking. Just...stop. x(

1. There was a shift in magnetic poles recently
I read that some airports had to shut down long enough to readjust their instruments. I wonder if this is messing with the birds navigation?

2. I think that's what's going on
Originally--when the dieoffs were only in the States--I pinned it on some HAARP experiments, but after hearing about the pole shift, I think that's the cause. But no--first we have to suffer through all these lame postulations. Like indigestion. Oy vey.

3. I don't get the polar shift explanation
If the birds got lost or seem confused, then I could buy into the polar shift explanation. But how could a polar shift make them drop dead while flying.

5. Screws with their innate navigational sense
Birds and other migratory creatures use the Earth's magnetic field to navigate. If it's in a state of flux they can easily go the wrong way.

I can also see that tying into the indigestion theory if they ate heavily right before their last flight. It would be like going for a jog after a holiday meal and taking a wrong turn that makes your trip twice as long -- a person is bound to have indigestion after that. In the case of the birds, I think they wound up flying too high by mistake and fell from exhaustion due to a combination of low oxygen and upset stomachs.

6. I just read that and thought "No"
In fact, I said that out loud! Just no. of course, I have no scientific proof but I do trust my BS-meter and it went off big time on that.

I suspect magnetic pole shifts as well. I just know it's not friggin' indigestion.

7. Ah No!
We put out 5 gallons of seed and 6 suet cakes out every day here in Howlerville for the last 11 years and have never seen our birds eat themselves to death. Not one.EVER.
