Hypnotherapy and smoking cessation
It is working for me. The person who is my hypnotherapist recommended that I see her three times in order for her to help me to the best of her/our ability. I don't know why, but this works better than anything else I have tried. I was not convinced that it would, but I had to try something. Other things had not helped me quit. I have not smoked since July. It is getting easier, too.

I am not sure where else I am going with this, but I was a little worried about some other things. This lady does charts as well.

I have felt for some time that I may have a bad chart. There are some things in my life I would like to change, but I seem to have no success in doing so. She did a quick chart for me, and it looks like I keep taking hits in career and reputation. No matter what I do, this does not seem to change. Is this inevitable, based on when I was born? Is it stupid to think this way? I try to make good choices and to be a strong person, but so many things seem to go wrong that are not in my control.

Is this just more Virgo pickiness, berating myself for no reason? Should I just be thankful for what I have?

1. Virgos unite!
I quit smoking 7 weeks ago (cold turkey).

I'd been feeling very low for a very long time... about finances, lack of energy, the state of the country... you name it. Around July-August, I started getting occasional glimmers that there MUST be another way, that things didn't have to be this way, that one can live NEXT to "bleak conditions" and not be affected by them, that there must be a way out.

Then I got sick (hence quit smoking)... just when I thought things couldn't get worse, haha! In desperation, I picked up an Abraham-Hicks book I'd had sitting on my desk for several years and started reading it carefully. And now I'm feeling hopeful, and ready to drop all the negativity I've been mired in for so many years. I really believe it's my relentless resentment & depression, my focus on what is or could go wrong that has attracted the problems.

So, NO! I don't think things are inevitable or not in your control!

Any other Virgos who've had life-changing crises or events lately?

5. I'm not a Virgo,
and either is my husband, but you seem to be going through everything he has been He is a manic depressive who has had a recent health crisis, and he is trying to work thru it all with nutrition as well as meditation and yoga. He hasn't tried hypnosis for his smoking, but he does have a bad habit of saying things like, " Well, it'll probably be another suck-y day at work!" For which I have tried ad nauseum to tell him not to put that out in the universe. He knows it intellectually.. But really, I think choosing to not always see the dark side is a habit and it should be our habit of choice.

I think it is wonderful you have seen the light. I like Abraham-Hicks a lot.

Reading Mike Dooley's Leveraging the Universe....THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS...

2. I know the feeling re: your chart. I'm a Scorp, and have had the feeling for
decades that so much goes wrong that's not in my control. I just figured it was karma working itself out. I've often had the feeling of having a "stuck" chart, with unalterable negatives.

7. Yep, but we'll have to agree to disagree. I think what I need is more than the
extremely mediocre "feel good" readings I've had over the years. I need to know what the major forces are, so I can avoid the negative and go towards the positive. I've had three or four extremely "feel good" rosy-glasses type of readings, which told me nothing.

9. Unalterable negatives.
I wish I knew what to do. I get tired of taking hits when I am trying repeatedly to do the right things.

The not smoking is going well. I have done this before, using other methods. Hypnosis seems to be the most successful. It might not work for everyone, but it works for me.

I am serious about the negatives in my chart, though. There must be a way to gain better control of my own life.

8. So glad to hear.
I am a hypnotherapist, and working with smokers can be exceedingly difficult. The essential thing is that the smoker really needs to want to quit, and not just being pushed into it by others, or the feeling that they ought to because that's the message that's out there.

No matter what method you use, becoming a non-smoker is the very best thing you can possibly do for yourself.
