1. get a pcj-600
and go at one of the barracades at full speed hit it and you should fly over and get hurt, there are hellicopters you can get on the other side for a less painfull re-entery, also check out http://www.gamefaqs.com for walkthroughs and dont forget the hidden packages

3. Keep doing the Cortez missions
One will be protecting Diaz as he makes a deal with the Cubans - you ice some Haitians who try to break it up, get his money back, he calls you, and you start working for him.

The second mission he gives you is called Phnom Penh '86. It's moderately difficult, but once you finish it, the entire map is open.

5. Tips for the first and second levels you mentioned
for the first: stay on your pearch and keep an eye on lance, a hatian will stand right in front of him and just start shooting him and lance won't do a thing, you gotta protect lance more than cortez, on Phnom Phen'86, its really a verry simple level aim more for the explosive barrels in the background than the shooters, you have unlimited ammo until you exit the helicopter, and then all ya gotta do is fight your way to the roof

9. i finaLLy beat 'pnom penh 86'
and the map is open. :)

now i have a few tough missions -

steaL a tank for cortez. do i just have to get into a firefight with the army? shouLd i cheat a tank?

destroy a boat for diaz. besides getting kiLLed, i aLso couLdn't find the switch for the boat i was supposed to find.

i did go ahead and buy the hieman (sp?) condo though - $14k was pricey, but it came with a heLicopter.

10. stealing the tank is east
walk along side the tank for a while and the driver will have to get out to take a leak, when he does jack the tank and get it to the garage, there won't be anything able to stop you, the rhino is invincible

11. kick ass
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 12:35 PM by sniffa
i tried getting in, and was toLd, "it's Locked. figure out a way to get the driver out of the tank"
my idea was to open fire - i was quickLy wasted. :P

so i just need to waLk aLong the tank for a whiLe? that seems aLmost too easy.

edit: take the tank to a pay & spray?

i'm finaLLy enjoying the other side of the city - yet some of the things there i was excited to do/see aren't avaiLabLe yet.. Like the haitian voodoo Lady and the greasy chopper.

i did figure out that you can rob the ryton-aid over and over again. :)

12. No Pay-n-Spray, you won't have time
Just drive it to the blip and get it into the garage - the wanted stars disappear, and the mission is over.

You have to advance the story more to get to Miss Cleo and the Greasy Chopper. I think you have to take down Diaz before you get there.

14. I personally like to play sky-sniper
I take a helicopter to the top of one of the buildings lining that street and snipe the troops from up there. You have to get the helicopter before you go on the mission and park it outside the Diaz mansion. The tank will stop if you shoot it also.

Unfortunately there's always a couple of soldiers that I can't snipe so you have to deal with them when you fly the helicopter back down to street level, but it's much easier than the whole group of them that were originally there.

15. get 80 hidden packages
and a hellicoptor will spawn behind diaz's mansion, and a hunter usually spawns on the roof

6. yeah, i'm on that mission now
i keep Letting them die - doh!

the other mission i'm stuck on is - fLying a mini-copter through a buiLding, and pLanting expLosives.

1. the heLicopter is f'n hard to controL - going forward seems impossibLe; i can onLy descend/ascend - so i'm doing a wave.

2. i can onLy get the 2nd expLosive pLanted before my copter expLodes from being hit by guards and security.
---------------------------------------

anyhow, so if i protect Lance i then get to phnom penh 86? finish that and the map opens?

f'n awesome! i think i have my night pLanned. :P

7. That Carrington mission
there's a super-easy way to avoid helicopter destruction. The timer does not begin until you pick up the first bomb.

Before planting ANYTHING, take the chopper into the building, and slice up the guards and workers. Then it's easy going, should only take about 5 minutes to plant all of them, then kablooie!

Also, when piloting the helicopter, some tips:

Use R2 and L2 to turn. Banking doesn't cut it. In fact, don't bank unless you have to.

You're either going to be going up (X) or going down. Don't keep your finger on X - use it in "bursts" to keep going straight. When you get into real helicopters (which is t3h 7337, BTW) there is a "balance point" where you can keep X, go straight, and keep level. You don't get that on these little RC monsters.

Do not forget where that staircase is - if you get lost, you're done.

17. ooh, i've progressed a few missions
aunt pouLet (sp?) - her first mission is f'n hard! those FBI guys are no joke. i gave it about 8 tries and the farthest i've made it is picking up the finaL package and i either get wasted or busted. :(

cortez - i have to wipe out each member of a european gang in 9 minutes. i've gotten to (and kiLLed) the 5th member before faLLing in the water and drowning. i had to cheat a tank to knock off guys 2-4
anyone have any idea how many members of this gang there are?

cuban mission - to wipe out the haitians. i made it to the sniper (it seemed Like the Last guy to take out) where i accidentLy shot a cuban and mission was a faiLure. doh!

i compLeted 4 missions yesterday, so i was quite pLeased with myseLf. :P

18. Cortez's escape
I was nearing the end of it and almost dead - so, I basically cowered on the staircase to the lower deck, popping up to snipe every once in a while.

Basically, a shitload of them come, fight them off for a while, then he escapes. It's intense, but not that hard, as long as you staay away from the water.

It's also a good idea to snag a rocket launcher before the mission, to wipe out those fucking helicopters.

20. That is widely regarded as...
the most difficult mission in GTA:VC. Look on the net for some tips, but every method I read and tried was difficult although they may be easier than the standard way.

Good luck! :)

25. ju ju
it's the first mission for "auntie pouLet"

after meeting her in LiL haiti, you have to go around picking up 3 'packages of juju' with the poLice and FBI chasing after you - there's a time Limit.

my approach has been trying to outrun the cops - i can usually make it to the 3rd package - by the time i've reached that last package i've been run over a bunch; they're much more persistant in this mission as your stars hit 4.
anyhow, i've made it the last package and been 'busted' everytime. usually, because the package is in a set back (alley like) part of a building. i go to grab it and get trapped.

should i go for the all out firefight to complete the mission?

30. Timing is the key here.
Make sure your health and armor is maxed out.
I use the PCJ600. Park alongside the 1st briefcase with the bike pointed
toward the corner of the roof over the approach road. ASAP (after the ss guy interrupts) jump back on and goose it straight over the edge. You should hit the road below pointed at the corner (more or less) at full speed toward the next briefcase. If you time the curves right, you will beat the cops to the 2nd briefcase.

Timing is critical. You must stop, pick up the case, and hop back on without any wasted adjustments. You will still be ahead of the cops. Hang a 90 to the left and wide open straight ahead through the alley picking up the bribe star and straight through Aunti P's neighborhood, hanging a 90Left at the street going toward the Kaufman Kab Co. A right will have you headed toward the 3rd briefcase. Heat is getting close, and there may be some blocks, but nothing serious. Turn in the dead end with the 3rd briefcase. All hell will break loose here. There is NO chance of shooting your way out.

If you have had a perfect run up to here, you may have time to get back on the bike, but the easiest way is to abandon the bike and run on foot (bare hands) across the street to the alley opening straight across the street. There are some ramp boards and a couple of obstacles, but nothing real hard. You will loose the pursuit in the alley, but still have mucho stars. You need to jack a car on the other side of the alley and make good time to the Paint & Spray.

This one is really fun once you have the timing down.
Good Luck!
