Xbox 360 HD-DVD in 2006 (IGN Rumor)
Microsoft reportedly looking into updated model for next year.
by Anoop Gantayat

December 14, 2005 - Remember all that talk about future Xbox 360 revisions possibly including an HD-DVD player as standard? Today, Japan's Jiji News service reports that Microsoft is planning such an update for as early as next year!

According to the Jiji report, Microsoft revealed on the 14th that it has entered final stages with Toshiba and other HD-DVD backers on the development of an HD-DVD capable Xbox 360. The company is looking into the possibility of releasing the updated version of the hardware next year, although such a release won't happen until after Spring.

Microsoft has yet to respond to this story. Previously, Microsoft Japan representatives have suggested that HD-DVD will be a part of the Xbox 360's future, albeit for movie playback only.

What fools, paying 4 figures for a 360 when it might become obsolete circa PS3 release which will have blu-ray. I think MS fucked up by not including HD-DVD from the get go. I'm in no hurry - I'm waiting to see how the Xbox2, PS3, and Nintendo Revolution stack up and what kind of software support each system gets. One ting is for sure - Nintendo better have a slam dunk system with the Revolution or they're going the way of Sega.

1. I'm taking a wait and see policy too
but I'm leaning towards PS3. So if MS decides to use HD-DVD for games in addition to movies are early adopters of the Xbox360 screwed ?
