Dark Corners of the Earth (Shadow Over Innsmouth-) |

I finally got to play for a good hour without crashing.
This is the first game that I've waited six years for, the first for which I actually showed up at the store first thing in the morning of its release.
Get home, install, 5 minutes, CRASH! (to the game's credit, there was one time I was so freaked out I wanted it to crash. Then it did, of course.)
to make a long story short I discovered the fan on my gpu has been busted for I-don't-know-how-long. Now I have the case open with another fan blasting away at it.
Finally, six freakin' years!
If you're into HP Lovecraft or survival horror adventure, it's buggy, but not a bad risk at $30.
If you consistently crash after a few minutes of otherwise fine playability, definitely check for heat issues.

2. get a new cooling fan, this will fix your overheating and mean |
|
hours of uninterrupted gaming.
Check your existing fans(PSU, video card, bridge and CPU) for build-up of all kinds of gunk. I smoke and have to de-carb my fans on a regular basis, all that electrostatic charge is a magnet for soot and dust and can seriously degrade a fans performance. Check that the heatsinks are soundly mounted as well.
I regularly give them a blast of compressed air from a can as well. It helps keep the components from getting a thin coating of dust.

4. ha! I got a new hsf and broke my card trying to get the old one off! |
|
2 of those microscopic resistors or whatever came off along with the old hsf.
this is perhaps the most disturbing and frightening game I've ever played.
