Bethesda just beat the ever-loving crap out of id. Here's why (a panoramic view of my most recent save):

:wow:

1. It really is prettier

I think the enemies are a bit more intelligent than they were in Oblivion, and the NPC interaction is definitely improved. I'll write more later- if I can pull myself away from it long enough- but so far I'm very impressed.

3. Skyrim is awesome.
I like the simplified gameplay with less repetition, better npc interaction, and the visuals are just great!

I think they did a great job!

7. Want a cooler map screen?
Add the following to your skyrim.ini (NOT the skyrimprefs.ini file; use regular brackets instead of {} for the heading):

{MapMenu}
uLockedObjectMapLOD=0
uLockedTerrainLOD=0
bWorldMapNoSkyDepthBlur=1
fWorldMapNearDepthBlurScale=0
fWorldMapDepthBlurScale=0
fWorldMapMaximumDepthBlur=0
fMapMenuOverlayNormalStrength=2.2000
fMapMenuOverlayNormalSnowStrength=0.8000
fMapWorldMaxPitch=360.0000
fMapWorldMinPitch=0.0000
fMapWorldYawRange=3600.0000
fMapWorldTransitionHeight=130000.0000
fMapWorldMaxHeight=130000.0000
fMapWorldMinHeight=130.0000
fMapWorldCursorMoveArea=0.9000
fMapWorldHeightAdjustmentForce=100.0000
fMapWorldZoomSpeed=0.0500
fMapLookMouseSpeed=3.0000
fMapMoveKeyboardSpeed=0.0005
fMapZoomMouseSpeed=5.0000
sMapCloudNIF=0

You end up with an in-game map that lets you zoom to ground level (sorry, console kids, you can't do this):

:D

What are you running that on? Do you know what the requirements are for running it on a PC?

My bank account and GPA are sure to take a bad hit.

One more hour and I can go home and play.

Can't fucking wait.

What do you think?

If you can pull yourself away from the game long enough to post about it, that is :D

9. LOVE it
I created a Dark Elf who is specializing in Sneak, One handed weapons, Archery and Illusion, with some supporting spells from Alteration and a few from Destruction (cause it's just fun to blow shit up)

I just finished the Dragon Claw quest that takes you up into Bleak Hills Barrow or something. What a great dungeon! Been noodling around in that first village so far. Tonight I'm going to head off to see the Jarl at one of the cities.

Love basically everything about the interface except that Perk screen. They could have done a lot better there.

10. Man, PS3 version really needs some kind of quick save function.
It's really a pain in the ass navigating to the save menu all the time.

But, damn I am having a blast with this game.

11. Agreed
Too many buttons involved in saving. I save often, so it's very annoying.

12. If you remap 'mission critical' keys on the PC version, they may not work properly or at all
Edited on Mon Nov-21-11 01:06 AM by Occulus
This is a known bug, I believe, and will be patched.

Until I find the necessary tweaks or they fix the whole keyboard/mouse issue, I have to use the xbox PC controller. I don't like playing these sorts of games with a controller, but doing so kind of proves that the consolitis runs thick and fast with this one, because using that controller magically solves the "that control don't work" issues.

It's... amazing. :think:
