Have a listen to this project I've been working on.
http://www.vendooza.net/

Check out one, or all, of the songs listed in the right hand column.

This is my old band, but I recently rejoined them as Engineer/Producer for the 6 songs mentioned, although only 4 are available.

I set up a recorder at their rehearsal loft and tracked them. There are only a couple of overdubs (including a couple of keyboard parts that I did at home).

Anyway, that's my latest completed project. It sure feels good to get stuff like that out of the way.

1. Sounds good
I listened to the first two. Did you do any final "mastering" on them, or are they straight out of the box?
I am in the middle of doing one for a band that wanted a "demo" to play gigs. They did 13 songs..lol.
For some reason the mixes sound "muddy" and it pisses me off. I am going to work on them with some EQ and see what I can do, but I have to find out why they ended up the way they did.
To be honest, the band should have let me do what I do, but they all wanted to be "producer" and I give them what they want. I am going to redo it and hand it to them and see if they like it. If they want to stick with theirs then that's fine too.
Anyway... you got a pretty good sound recorded on that thing you bought. You should set up a side gig of recording bands live, there's some money to be made there.
Were the drums recorded like you did that last band? 4 mics? This last project I did I got away from the close mics, but the drummer said he wished I wouldn't have..lol. I thought they sound great, but some people are stuck in the 80s I guess.

2. My HD recorder has some Mastering FX built in.....
It came with 24, I think, Mastering FX that you can 'patch' in when doing the mixdown. I used one that cleans up the bass a bit, since it leaked in everywhere.

The drums were recorded with just 3 mics. A front stereo pair and 1 overhead. All the mics were the same distance from the snare. I didn't want to get that out-of-phase snare hit sound. I hate that.

I know what you mean about everyone getting their fingers in the pie. I hate that too.
