Homeless Veterans Should Not Be "On the Table"
In respect to efforts to reduce the debt and the deficit, members of Congress constantly insist that "everything is on the table." Of course, that is not true. Republicans oppose any increase in taxes, and those that subscribe to the Norquist No-Tax Pledge also oppose any reduction or elimination of deductions or subsidies.* Republicans have proposed a $75 million reduction in vouchers for homeless veterans. There is a dispute as to whether or not this proposal adversely affects homeless veterans now or in the future, but there is no question that Republicans have put this subject on the table as one of the ways to reduce spending.

I expect that this is another example of the "trickle-down" theory. By permitting the very rich to maintain their tax cuts, they can buy expensive art work. A multi-millionaire can buy a Picasso, the gallery earns a commission, someone is paid to box the painting, someone is hired to deliver it, the driver buys a cup of coffee after the delivery and he drops his change in the cup of the wounded veteran lying on the sidewalk in front of Starbucks. Ergo---"trickle down" at work.

1. support youy troops only goes far enough to put a sticker on the car

it doesn't actually extend to DOING something for them! (for some at least)
:sarcasm:
edit to add sarcasm tag on title and first line

I don't know what motivates US troops to join up. I know what motivated me in another country
to take a few years of service there.

we can use nice language like patriotism, willingness to fight for freedom/defend the home,
wanting to 'serve', honor, lust for adventure, camaraderie
but at some point, a pension, education, health care, other benefits and paycheck come into the choice too

renegotiating that deal AFTER the damage has been done to a person
is a little like tax payers demanding congress drop their paychecks retroactively 2 years to 50% of current and loose all benefits and pensions to help with the economic crisis and to do that for all past congress members too

they went into the 'deal' expecting a certain payment and benefits

changing a contract, be it a 'social contract' mid-term/'when people have done their part' constitutes a breech of contract
so sad that some can't seem to understand that

2. But these guys are expendable and used up.
And they are not going to put any money in the tics back pocket so cut them off says the Chicken Hawks. Even Grumpy John McCain and the village idiot stabbed them in the back.

Stand an tell them no more cuts to what they were promised.

3. we need to stand up for all of humanity
No human is expendable or all are
None of us are used up or all are

Divided, we, the people loose
Together, we, the people, might be able to do something

and breaking contracts is something they 'tics' complain a lot about
but never hesitate to do to others

gonna quote a friend of mine

"They spent good money teaching us to act as a unit, together.
Now that they turn on us and take away what we were promised, we don't use it against them?"
