http://journals.democraticunderground.com/JustAnotherGen/29I put a link to my journal so you can all know what kind of man my dad was. He passed away August 13th from lung cancer that spread to his intestines, and renal failure. He was a former Captain in The US Army and served honorably as a Green Beret. He was 70 years old when he died. And his health issues started at about 58. He was one of the "older guys" that served in that war on the ground.
He was not only exposed to Agent Orange, but to blue and red (pink). I know the lawsuits, research and inquiries have come and gone for Agent Orange, but there is really only research by the NIH on the dioxin impact of Red and Blue. If you have pneumonia/emphysema, and then have it again a month or two later - please go to the VA and Demand a biopsy on any mass/spot on your lung. The blue in particular may have impacted your body so that the cancer (stage 4) will NOT show in your blood.
Dad had blood work over the weekend of July 30th and the cancer still did not show. We now have records that show he was stage 1 last December.
I'm neither a lawyer nor a doctor. I have nothing to gain from this - other than being happy to read someday that one of you has Lung Cancer, Stomache Cancer, Colon cancer - but it's stage one and TREATABLE. If you need help advocating for your health reach out to me. You are Entitled to be taken care of for the poison we poured into you.
Please please please don't brush it off as a cold. My dad is no longer here - so you Vietnam Vets have a daughter at DU now to look after you.
Much love to you all from Captain Thomas E. Ragland's daughter!
