I posted this elsewhere as a gag, but thought that it might be more appreciated here |

John was heading down the road in his semi through the Montana countryside when nature called. As luck would have it, a rest area loomed on the horizon just at the time when he needed it. God must have smiled upon him, he thought, for what else could be the explanation for his good fortune. Yes, it's the little things that let you know that someone upstairs is indeed watching.
Rural Montana rest areas aren't much more than glorified outhouses, but they serve the purpose. John wondered who serviced such rest areas out in these remote locations. Sensing that this was going to be a longer break than usual, John grabbed the paperback romance novel that he'd been reading in his down time and went to do his business.
Things got a little more urgent on the way in and he hurriedly went to the stall, dropped trou, and opened his romance novel. After he was relieved he realized that he had neglected to check if there was toilet paper in the stall. It turned out that there was none.
"Aw, shit," John muttered.
Then he realized that he still had the romance novel, and, what the hell, had already read the first few chapters.
Yes, John thought, someone was indeed watching over him.

1. Maybe you could get the discussion started by posting what you think of this. |
|
'Cause I'm not sure where you want to go with this.

2. It's the only appropriate use for a romance novel |

although I find John a little weird for reading female porn instead of Playboy, like a hetero horndog, or Playgirl like a gay horndog.
Other than that, it's a shaggy dog story--no beginning or end, just a big middle.

|

5. Not only that - but a bible left behind; not his own. |
|
Maybe a Gideon. Now that would be a funny twist.
