AW! James Doohan died.

"In a 1998 interview, Doohan was asked if he ever got tired of hearing the line "Beam me up, Scotty."

"I'm not tired of it at all," he replied. "Good gracious, it's been said to me for just about 31 years. It's been said to me at 70 miles an hour across four lanes on the freeway. I hear it from just about everybody. It's been fun.""

I didn't know he was missing a finger on his right hand.

2. Farewell, Mr. Doohan
Scotty was one of my favorite characters on the original series.

3. RIP
Tis sad news indeed. From what I understand - he had a really good attitude to life. Never realized that he was a D-Day vet. Growing up, I wanted to be able to fix things like he did - as an adult and in hind sight it was almost a joke to see the Enterprise in so much peril and Scotty saving the engines or warp core or... at the last second. As a kid, I thought he was the best. OK, OK - I still do.

4. Rest in peace, Jimmy.
I just heard this myself... what a wonderful man he was.
