Anyone watch this one?
I intended on skipping it (I'm really not that big of a 'superhero' fan I like some but it was never a big theme in what I like in tv/movies/books) but ended up watching last night and I have to say I'm going to try it again next week.
It felt weak in a spot or two but overall I thought the characters were good and the premise handled in an interesting way (it's kinda like an alternative approach to an x-men type universe)

2. The reference to Xmen by Hiro hooked me |
|
It made me think that the writers have a good grip on their source material. I'm in.

4. Help me out on that reference |

I believe that he referred to a time-travel story arc involving Kitty Pryde in X-Men 145 or 148. I stopped reading with 137's Death of Phoenix and didn't really get back into it until about issue 171, outside of an issue here and there.
Is Hiro's reference correct?

I'm not hooked yet, but I'll give it time. At least a few episodes. Seems like a interesting premise. Sort of how would superheroes emerge in the 'real world', starting with everyone's 'origin' stories, but leaving plenty of room for what really is happening behind the scenes.
I've read that some will become heroes, others villans, etc. Should be interesting.
Then again, I wasn't 'blown away' by the pilot, so unless they ramp it up a bit, I don't know...

I don't watch Lost, but I understand the vibe and arc of that show. Heroes seems to be a little too consciously emulating that formula, with artificially cryptic clues here and there plus the (admirably) multicultural cast. I only make the connection because they're two SF-ish shows targeting basically the same demographic, so one is bound to look for structural similarities.
I just hope that they don't overplay the "mysterious" underlying subplot, or they'll kill the show.

And what's more is that it captured my wife's interest, and superhero stuff isn't quite her thing.
I'll say it has potential. We'll have to see where it goes from here.
