Can anyone here help with a math/measurement problem?

I'm far too right brained for these sorts of things.

I'll bet this is one of those times it would help to have some graphics software or something like that where I could just type in the dimensions and let the computer make the drawing.

1. Well, each 1/2 inch square plus the line is 11/16ths....
I don't think it works out to even three or four-foot lengths.

2. I think it's 36 on the three foot side...
which I guess would mean 48 on the four foot side.

3. That helps to think about it that way. Thank you!
I didn't think it would fit exactly but going to leave the borders at whatever dimension was leftover.

9. so the 3/16 lines are for grout?
I'm shitty at this kind of stuff too, but seems you work from a corner and side and any "leftover" on the other side is what tilecutters are for??? (sorry)

11. Yes, I think that's how the actual work happens but this is for working on the design
prior to the work.

10. I tried again and got 50 squares on the three foot side but...
it does not work out evenly. The 11/16ths works out to be .6875 of an inch. the 4 foot side is about 58 squares.
