Anybody else out there finding it increasingly difficult to multitask? |
|
I have for about the past year or so. Am in my mid-50's.

1. Yes, I used to pride myself on being able to do two or three things at once! |
|
I still have a hard time just watching TV -- I'm always online at the same time, usually at DU! But I've noticed I'm not as good at it -- that I'm more easily distracted from one activity by the other. I hadn't associated it with my age -- 51 -- but I guess I better get in the habit of doing that! :)

"Can't Remember Sh!t". It's an automatic affliction once you get into your '50s, so it affects your multi-tasking. Don't worry, it all down hill from here.

Sometimes I walk into the kitchen and scratch my head - "What am I doing Here?" Then I look back at my empty tea-cup in the living room and realize I wanted to make a cup of tea.
Don't think it's Alzheimer's - just short term memory.
But I can remember the name of a rabbit pet I had when I was 8 yrs old.
I'm 62.

7. Not so much that, but... |
|
...I do notice that I overwhelm really easily. That is, if someone calls me up and immediately launches into a monologue about his/her day, with lots of stream-of-consciousness discussion and plenty of detail, I feel too flooded with information. The same goes for having multiple cell phone conversations going on around me (Come to think of it, that's just annoying).
Anyway, I seem to recall reading that the faster pace of life nowadays has affected everything from attention spans to expectations (e.g., never having to wait for slow-cooked food).

9. Multi-task???? At 65 I'm having trouble single tasking! lol... |
|
Takes me a loooong time to do everything now. I use to be quick like a bunny now I'm more like a snail and I hate it!
The days are short and fly right by though. And I'm never bored, not enough time to be bored. LOL But it's true!
