At what point do I find another mental health specialist?
I like my current one, but I'm tired of being told what's happening is due to anxiety. Especially when my glucose reader is showing more and more readings below 80 (it used to never get below 86) and a couple of times has gotten to dangerous low levels.

The times I end up confused, tired, hungry, sweating all over the damn place are as varied as they can be. I know my symptoms when anxious. These are not it at all.

I then read this:

The symptoms associated with hypoglycemia are sometimes mistaken for symptoms caused by conditions not related to blood sugar. For example, unusual stress and anxiety can cause excess production of catecholamines, resulting in symptoms similar to those caused by hypoglycemia but having no relation to blood sugar levels.

A person with hypoglycemia may feel weak, drowsy, confused, hungry, and dizzy. Paleness, headache, irritability, trembling, sweating, rapid heart beat, and a cold, clammy feeling are also signs of low blood sugar. In severe cases, a person can lose consciousness and even lapse into a coma.

Except I now have actual proof my blood sugar levels are askew. Yet they are taking no notice.

I ran 1000 feet and climbed up 5 flights of stairs then collapsed. This is NOT due to anxiety either. They are treating it as such.

What must I do to convince them that. this. is. not. anxiety.? Apart from going into a coma. That I'd rather NOT do.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

1. I'm not giving medical advice of course
Because that would be against DU rules.

However it appears from various posts you've made that your current specialist is not paying attention to you and hasn't been for some time. If I were you I'd switch ASAP.

2. Im don't understand
If you think you're hypoglycemic why not just go to a regular doc?

3. The last 3 times I had, he blames EVERYTHING on anxiety.
I've given up on him.

5. Then you need another doc
Regardless of what he blames it on, if your blood sugar is that low, then you have hypoglycemia, whatever the cause.

If he thinks it's due to anxiety, then he should give you something for anxiety, be it an anti-anxiety drug (Ativan, Lorazepam), or an anti-dep that's good for anxiety (e.g.: Effexor), or whatever (I'm not recommending these, just pointing out a few that exist).

But to just ignore it claiming anxiety is at the root is ignoring the fact that you're hypoglycemic, and being remiss in treating it.

If he can't fix the root cause, he should give you something to mitigate it. And if he can't give you something to mitigate it, he should at least do something to address the symptom (hypoglycemia) and at least prescribe a mode of treatment that will get your blood sugars up to acceptable levels. Whether it's medication, or just telling you to eat a banana, he ought to do something to at least fix the sympom, if he can't fix the root cause.

4. mind and body are so interconnected, yet
there is just so much room for b.s. around it. i had docs tell me over and over that i should see a shrink, when really, i had fibromyalgia, and needed competent medical care. feeling better has certainly improved my mental state, which was so weighed down by pain, fatigue, and bull. and so my body feels better, and...
if you are otherwise happy, maybe s/he could be educated? not like you ought to have to do that, but...
at any rate, you deserve someone who you feel comfortable with.
