I will bookmark this thread and when we find out we can all give praise, glory, and honor to the winner!

My bet is Godric Gryffindor.

Yours?

2. I bet you are right

I also wouldn't be surprised if Harry is an heir of Gryffindor as Voldemort was the heir of Slytherin.... (remember Dumbledore makes a comment about being able to pull the sword out of the hat - only a true Gryffindor would be able to do that)

3. That would bother me though. The entire "heir" storyline goes
against "it's our abilities, not our blood" philosophy of the book.
I trully hope Harry stays "just Harry".

4. I'm sure he would
Whether or not he turns out to be the heir he's had to work just as hard or harder than anyone, make tough decisions, trust his gut instincts, and he hasn't ever just expected things to be given to him(except maybe the prefect's badge).... He and his friends have had to figure stuff out with minimal guidance from the adults. Coming to school as the 'boy who lived' he could just as easily turned out like Draco had he not made good choices.

5. Really like your suggestion! But,
Going with Dumbledore for now, Godric was 1a a really, really close 1a.

have a whole list:
Godric Gryffindor
Neville
Hagrid
Dumbledore's Brother from the Three Broomsticks
New character

7. If it's not a new character
Then I'm leaning towards Hagrid, with the half-giant thing and all.

But I really do think it's a new character.

8. I think one should rethink their guesses in light of JKR's riddle on
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 12:40 PM by robbedvoter
"Prince"

I cannot be other than what I am
Until the man who made me dies
Power and glory will fall to me finally
Only when he finally closes his eyes

Do we know any royalty in the magic world? Or is this Prince Charles?

thinking about this since the door,
will have to add Wormtail. He's got the new silver hand and all. PP owes Harry big...

One of the Malfoys... still thinking...

12. OTOH, in the Rumors chapter on her site, JKR says the riddles
have no further significance.

11. If it's not a new character, I predict that it'll be Neville Longbottom.
It's pretty obvious that Neville will be at the center of a huge twist at some point in the story, and this is as good as anything.

14. *Holds nose and 'canonballs' in*
For some reason, I think it's Lupin. . .

We actually know next to nothing about him except that he became
a werewolf as a child. We know that he was Mr. Moony (of the Moony,
Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs group--Lupin, Pettigrew, Black and Potter), but nothing is actually said about his family
background at all.

What if he's the prince of some eastern nation, done out of his
inheritance because his family doesn't want anything to do with a
werewolf?
