Had a 15 year old over-the-range microwave oven fizzle out on us |
|
It is a good one that we would like to keep but do not want to put any money into it at its age. Just need to know if there is normally a fuse inside that could have blown that could be could replaced? It is a KitchenAid with a convection oven if that helps?

No power at all? The only blown fuse scenario would be within your electric panel. Am sure you checked to see of the breaker for the 'wave has been tripped...(?) If an appliance does trip the breaker, it could be the appliance and/or the GFI associated with your appliance.
My son owns an appliance repair business, and has been repairing appliances, both home and commercial, for many years. He always says that when the microwave goes, it's always less expensive to replace it than to fix it, and that many times a fix isn't always going to guarantee or extend life/use. Fifteen years is way beyond the lifespan of any microwave, especially the above the range type.

2. Yes everything went black on the digital readout/clock when I pushed the Start Button |
|
Thank you for your advice. After talking it over with my wife we have concluded we got our monies worth out of this one and we are going to get a new one. I am just hoping it gets delivered and I can get it installed before Thanksgiving. Everything always breaks around the holidays for me.
Thanks again.

3. You can get a small one for well under a hundred bucks now |
|
and if money isn't tight (but time is), you can afford to get it as a backup just in case you don't get 15 years out of the next over the stove model.

4. We actually considered that but counter space is a premium in our small kitchen |
|
Storage space to keep out of the kitchen is really tight too. Plus I could use that extra hundred bucks for about a dozen other things that need to be done around here right now. Joys of home ownership.
