I belong to both UU and CRS churches ... does anyone disagree with that? |

Edited on Sun May-22-05 11:38 PM by Maat
We here in the SOUPs group believe in "all paths."
I've been a member of a Church of Religious Science (a New Thought church) ( www.rsintl.org ), a New Thought church, for a year and a half.
But I also feel the need to regularly attend a UU church.
I find the two belief systems entirely compatible.
But, if I HAD to pick one ....
I'd probably be a New-Thought UUer!
I also love going to a drumming group in the Native-American tradition.
Thoughts?
I love to explore spiritualities.
On edit:
I have been attending both churches for about six months. No problems so far. I did just become a member of UU today, after visiting this one particular UU for about three months, on and off.

1. I don't see any problem |
|
I've attended both regularly at times, been a member of CRS. Now I'm mostly pagan but still feel confortable in both of them. They're different but not incompatible in my view.

12. I've done so much reading lately on why Jews "don't accept Jesus" |
|
And recently attended a Catholic wedding. It was the first time I had sit in a Christian church in literally a decade, and I had learned a lot about paganism since that time. What astounded me, in fact, I was stunned all during the ceremony, was how Christianity reeks of paganism. I just never understood enough to recognize it before.

Does anyone think it would be wrong to be both Episcopalian and officially Roman Catholic? Of course I am already Jewish (I had a naming service although no bat mitzvah) and Christian;

You've really learned a whole lot of the different traditions.

6. Maat, what brought about this post? |
|
Is someone giving you BS about your spiritual path? I'll kick their spiritual butts, if they are. Just tell me who and its done, Sistah! And if you want more than spirituality kicked, I have this cousin, Joey...
:silly:
Of course, no problem whatsoever! The Spirit reavels Itself as is chooses with each person. To have someone in SOUP disagree with your path would be to be a spiritually hypocritical.

I've attended Unity churches, Catholic retreat centers, a Hindu temple, and done numerous Native American ceremonies. I don't see anything incompatible with any of them, nor in your choices for worship.

I have to say: "I love the way SOUPers combine different spiritual practices in unique ways."
It is so enlightening.

10. There is no problem with paths until |
|
one starts putting another's path down. No need to ask our permission.
I think our spirituality show more, the more we try to follow other paths.

Hey, what do you get when you cross a Jehovah's Witness and a UUer? You get two nice looking guys in shirts and ties walking around the neighborhood, knocking on doors, and asking the person who comes to the door the meaning of life. On to your question however: the beauty in the first place of being a UU is that you can be "anything and a UUer" (as long as the other "anything" accepts it...for example, I would find it very hard to imagine a Southern Baptist/UUer (although it certainly wouldn't be the UUers that had a problem with it).
Currently I am being very heavily influenced by a philosopher named Ken Wilber. Just finished his book "A Brief History of Everything" and have started his gigantic book "Sex, Ecology, Spirituality: The Spirit of Evolution."
