Our first Halloween alone |
|
has come and passed. It was not as hard as I feared. My 14 year old boy went to see a band with some friends, and I spent the night alone. I have not drank in many, many years (former AA member), and was afraid I would break down and drown my sorrows, but I made it through the night. When my son came home, we watched scary movies into the early morning, and snarfed two big bags of chocolate I picked up at the last minute as a surprise. Halloween without candy would have been sacrilegious. Instead, it was sacrilicious!
Today, my 14 year old son is at school, and it all caught up with me. I'm glad he wasn't around to see it, and I feel better for having it out of my system.
Just like AA. One day at a time. Tomorrow, I'll do it all over again.

 I'm glad you found a little bit of fun this Halloween. I'm working on a bag of Reese's peanut butter cups. We haven't had any trick or treaters since moving to rural PA, but I always buy candy "just in case" :-).

I'm glad you could find some joy in a very difficult time. And remember, we'll be here during the really tough holidays coming up, too.

3. How's the rest of your situation, Demwing? |

I donated some money to you last month, via your website, may be able to do again in Nov. Have you had any more success finding help locally?
