Official Keith Olberman is a Partisan Hack Thread!
I am furious.

The parallels between Ferraro and Wright are easy to make. Both making outrageous comments that reflect poorly on the campaigns. Yet Hillary deserves a "Special Comment" because it took her two weeks to fire Ferraro and Obama get's a pass for his pastor of 20 years!

As for Obama not being in the pew when Wright gave his inflamatory sermons...I call bullshit.

Judgement? Ha, with Rezco and Wright in his past, I think he needs to take that word out of his campaign.

Just furious.

1. Olberman has lost all perspective when it comes to Obama.

5. I didn't get the name.
He had a talking head come on and discuss with sorrow how Obama needs to distance himself from Wright. It was all very grave and concerned.

Then he had Obama on by remote, and asked him respectful questions concerning Wright , his history with the pastor. Obama said that Wright was no longer the spiritual advisor to the campaign, that he repudiated what Wright said, that he had never been in the pew when Wright gave those sermons and that the tapes were a surprise to him. He said that Wright is like an uncle to him and that it's like any family, you don't get rid of family just becasue they say something you disagree with.

Olberman proceed to kiss ass some more. Then the talking head came back on and said that Obama did the right thing but that the Republicans will no doubt run 527's with the Wright tapes.

All concerned respect, no outrage.

7. That was Jonathan Alter
...of MSNBC and Obama Central.

Hillary is completely responsible for what Geraldine Ferraro said, and must take blame for it. It is obviously how she feels.

Barack Obama cant be held responsible for what someone else says. You can't assume that what someone else says is how Barack feels. That would not be fair!

9. Damn right they're going to run 527's on that if he were the nominee
They would run them till we all knew every sermon by heart. You won't be able to watch Dora the Explorer without having Wright pop up on a 527 ad.

Obama is TOAST. The only question is, are we all toast with him. Dear God in heaven I don't think I can take four more years of Republicans. If that's what happens I'm seriously going to look into going to med school out of country.

3. At least he wiped the jizz off his face after returning from commercial.
I broke my MSNBC boycott to watch and Keith might as well have done the interview on his knees.

I'm disgusted!

6. He started out by breaking news - Obama fires his pastor.
Then he had Jonathan Alter on - ya know - Jonathan Alter from Newsweek - the one that published that Hillary should drop out 2 weeks ago??

Obama came on and said he had no idea that Wright used that language, and that Wright was like your crazy uncle that you are close with but also says stupid things.

Olbermann used phrases like - condemn the sin, not the sinner. Don't hold Obama responsible for guilt by association (that one really burned my butt)

And then went into a story where he called Hillary a liar for claiming she helped develop S-chip.
That's when I turned him off.

8. The guilt by association thing
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 08:29 PM by polmaven
got to me too. My poor kitty went running upstairs to his room to hide from his loony mom.

He went to commercial after announcing the story about the S-Chip, and came back with Allison sitting there. He said that this was supposed to be his day off, and Allison would take over from there. As he was leaving, she told him to "feel better".

She continued with Alter about how that great unbiased Senator Orin Hatch had said she hadn't helped AT ALL in getting S-chip done.

Then Alter (of MSNBC and Obama Central) talked about how "some" Democratic Senators have been telling him the same thing!

***I love it. He came in on a day off, and not feeling well to be sure Obama was properly soft-balled.

I wonder if he extended an invitation to Hillary to come on and "discuss" the Geraldine Ferraro matter, before he excoriated her!

10. I had exactly the same thoughts about the parallels.
There is at least a grain of truth in what both of them said.

But both could have worded their legitimate points more appropriately.

However, I find it very objectionable that Wright (in YouTube clips I saw) denies the reality of sexism by saying Obama knows what it is like to be a black man growing up in an America run by rich whites (which is true, although Obama certainly had some privileges the average person does not get) but Hillary will never be called a n*****. Maybe not, but she has been called the sexist equivalent, all her life, and during this campaign, repeatedly. She has faced sexist discrimination repeatedly, in being denied job opportunities as have many women of her generation, etc. I find his comments regarding W. Clinton and Lewinsky vulgar and offensive.

12. Thats why the Asia Times article is fascinating
because it starts off with a French quote

"Cherchez la femme," advised Alexander Dumas in: "When you want to uncover an unspecified secret, look for the woman."

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_Page/JB26Aa01.html

I don't advocate for this article but I do find a pattern here. HATE

You don't hang around someone for 20 years if you are not sympathetic to their views.

Thats commen sense and this pastor has issues with hate.
