Hey, everybody, nice to see you all here. Wanted to share this.
My husband stole the SF Chron Datebook from our local cafe this morning so I could read it. When I looked, this story was on the cover. Thom Gunn was not my friend, he was my teacher for a few years. I knew he'd passed on, but it was a shock to read how it happened. I expect he's partying in the Great Beyond now. Damn, I miss him! He was an amazing poet, a great teacher and a no shit guy.

Thom Gunn, the British-born San Francisco poet who died a year ago this week, is remembered by friends, colleagues and intimates who recall the polarities, the ghosts, the charms, the legacy of the man. Monday we learned about his childhood in England and the trauma of his mother's suicide. In today's conclusion, we learn how Gunn found a new life of poetry and passion in the Bay Area. In the photo above, Thom Gunn (top) with his partner Mike Kitay at their Cole Street home.

1. That was an interesting read
Thanks for posting, sfexpat2000. I never heard of Gunn, but it looks like I've been missing out on a lot.
