Fat free milk does not equal lactose free milk |
|
I found that out the hard way yesterday. :hurts: You'd think I'd know these things by now. I've been lactose intolerant since I was a child.
I'm sort of feeling disappointed today. I started working out about 2 weeks ago and I weighed 277 at the time. I quickly lost 6 pounds, but today when I hopped on the scales I weighed 275. What's the deal? I've actually started eating more healthfully over the past couple of days than I was eating when I lost the 6 pounds. I was eating out all the time, but a couple of days ago I went to the grocery and bought all kinds of low fat and fat free food that I've been munching on. We're talking fruit, vegetables, and lean meat. I've worked out every day over the past 2 weeks. I haven't altered too much there. I don't get it.

That's what I always do. :)
Actually, Droopy, I rarely get on the scales. For me, it's self-defeating. If I lose a pound I think, Great, I'll have a hot fudge sundae. If I gain a pound, I think, What's the use? I might as well have a hot fudge sundae.
Others live by the scale & it is really easy to think you're only gained a pound or two & jump on & found you're out of control.
You've taken on so much & have done so well. Pat yourself on the back.
BTW, maybe you've put on muscle? Muscle weights more than fat. How are your clothes fitting? Also, didn't you quit smoking? Smoking is the equivalent of 15 minutes of walking a day.

2. I'd be a marvel of modern science if I had PMS |

Seeing as how I'm a man. :) Do I write like a woman? Just curious.
Yup, I quit a lot of bad habits recently and I guess I should really be happy about that. But I've worked out pretty hard over the past few weeks and it just seems like I should have lost more. I hopped on the scales again today and I have lost a total of 3.5 over the first two weeks that I've been working out. I guess I will take your advice and maybe just hop on the scales once a week.

I was just messing around.
I think weekly is definately the better way to go. Also, if you're working out you might be drinking more water & that might be the temporary weight gain. I'm betting it is temporary. Just some abnormality thing going on. (& that's why I said to blame if on PMS :))

But I hope my working out with the weights doesn't lead me to be a 275 pound muscle bound freak of nature. Then again the Bengals are needing a nose tackle to plug up the middle of the line. It might be the job for me. :)
I was thinking that I was working out with the weights in a way that will burn fat and develop muscle to the point that I'll look good with my shirt off. I do 3 sets of 10 reps with moderately heavy weight. I do 12 different exercises so I pretty much work every muscle in my upper body and torso. I do that workout every other day. On the days that I lift weights I do a 1 mile walk. On my recovery day I do a 2 mile walk. I was jogging there for a while, but my knees started hurting me and I had to stop that.
