American media does not challenge authority. |
|
Robert Fisk, long time Middle East reporter, said today, on Democracy now, that the American Media does not challenge authority. They may go and take a timid kick at it, if it's down on the ground.
He also talked about how, when you read major articles in major newspapers, you will contently see the words, 'American intelligence officials said'. In other words, most media outlets are not reporting. They are basically taking whatever comes from the governmemnt, puts it out there, and calls it reporting.
How true! The media in America, has more or less, become a propaganda organ for the executive branch.

2. It's owned by the same people who put this man in office. |

What do you expect.
9/10 problems in this country come down to the concentration of power by corporations. They own the media, they own 90% of the Republicans and 60% of the Democrats, a good number of judges, and they have been putting the squeeze on the middle class so we are too poor/busy/distracted to notice and feel powerless to interceed.

3. I think he may have even been suggesting |

that Amy Goodman was too nice in her questioning - like of the general - though she gave him a pretty hard time.
Like it may partly be a cultural thing. Or so accepted that people don't want to be the only one who is rude and not invited back.
I saw someone interviewing Blair on the BBC once and the journalist was giving Blair hell. I'm sure it didn't hurt his career. I expect that it was expected.
