1. While I empathize with and understand why many Mexicans enter the US illegally,

I do not understand the federal government's policy of disregarding the laws that they have enacted. It seems to me that if it has been determined that a particular law does not merit enforcement, it should simply be repealed. That would instantaneously solve the problem of individual states enacting their own immigration laws.

2. Who says they're not enforcing their own laws? Lots of people are being deported.
