This kind of thing may give some satisfaction, but it looks bad for several reasons.

1) It's a cheap shot. There was almost no chance of Bachmann getting the reference until later, so she had no opportunity to respond to the insult.

2) The lyrics of the song are kind derogatory and certainly very sexual. It's actually from the perspective of a man who is mad that his girl is sleeping with somebody else. The word 'slut' is used a whole bunch.

3) It doesn't make Bachmann look bad at all. In fact it does the opposite. It makes her look like a victim.

4) It's handing the right a talking point on a silver platter. There are a lot of directions they could (and probalby will) go with this. 'Liberals hate women!' 'Would they laugh if it were Michelle Obama or Elizabeth Warren?' 'The media is biased against Republicans!' 'They're all hypocrites' . . . and so on and so forth.

And please spare me the 'concern troll' bullshit. There's nothing wrong with calling out Bachmann on her nonsense. But this is just about the worst possible way to do it.

Their support isn't up for grabs. But the support of the middle absolutely is. Many people in the middle are exposed to information from left, right, and center perspectives. The fact that they are in the middle often means they are more willing to gather information from left and right sources and not necessarily dismiss either out of hand.

This is how the needle is moved. When the left has TPs with legs or appeal, it can draw off people on the center. But the right is just as capable of doing that too.

It's not like this a huge deal, but it doesn't help. Vis-a-vis the center, this stunt has much more negative potential than positive . . . you can't win over anybody in the center by doing this, but you can turn some of them off.

Bachmann doesn't do these things. She gets a lot of stuff wildly wrong, but she believes those things as she is saying them, unlike the filthy liar Cain. Her policies are largely based on nonsense, but she is sincere (if misguided) about them and doesn't flip and flop on every single issue like the emetic Romney. She doesn't say something crazy about electrocuting Mexicans or whatever, then apologize for it, then justify it, and later claim she never said it.

Bachmann has many, many flaws as a candidate, but as a liar she is completely blown away by other epically dishonest republicans.

Why didn't they play the Patsy Cline song "Crazy"? It's still an insult, and it's still classless, but at least it would be accurate.
