1. I'm not sure what's gong on. |
|
I think DK's being a little cagier about his intentions. He's likely gotten negative feedback from those less impressed with his principles than DU. Such as constituents who don't quite grasp what single-payer has to do with his vote on HCR.

2. That would be funny if it was even the slightest bit important |
|
The thread about him in GD has only got about 112 recs. With the way folks talk about this man CONSTANTLY on this web site, I would have thought that his (at first) firm refusal to support health care reform would garner at LEAST 300 recs. DU seems to be the only place on earth where people know who this man is and care anything about him. That should tell everyone EVERYTHING they need to know about the man and his message. And folks are still talking about Denni's "incredible level of support" as if 120 recs in GD is difficult to get for anything pro-DK or anti-Obama and means a damned thing.
NO ONE KNOWS WHO HE IS and NO ONE CARES. I really wish we could focus on something that actually matters in this debate. That article about the median wealth of single black women being $5 due to the fact that far too many are shuttled into low-skilled jobs with no health insurance has rocked me to the damn core. THAT is a critical issue in this health care battle that I wish DU would focus on, and not some Congressperson that 99.575% of the American public and the whole damn world doesn't know even exists.

4. I have been (quietly, happily) weaning myself from DU. I can't take the stupidity here anymore |
|
The uncaring "I'm leftier than you!" righteousness that has permeated this place is almost sickening. It solves absolutely nothing besides making the clueless feel somehow superior to everyone else even as needy people perish. I can't take it anymore, particularly as you and I both know that (as usual) it will be minorities and women who will be the hardest hit.
In my "spare time," I'm working with health care officials and NGO's in Australia and America on a international health issue as we speak -- and NONE of the folks on either side of the Atlantic have any idea who Dennis Kucinich is. That tells me everything I need to know.
Q.A, you have consistently posted some of the most informative posts here and I hope that you continue to try to spread your knowledge and understanding of this bill. It is desperately, DESPERATELY needed, as is health care reform as a whole.

5. Number 23, for lack of a better phrase, I'm feeling you on that. ;) |
|
The thing is, I started out just like everyone else here not knowing anything about the bills - but given that so much of the stuff I've heard here about what's in them is so outrageous, in having to go see for myself, I've ended up being aware of more than I every really wanted to know. Thanks for the shout-out, and for your "in the field" work.
Well, this is it! The week. Fingers crossed and am on pins and needles for them to pass. the. damn. bill. And then... prepare for the wave of "we told you so's" as the implementation of the bill expreriences the inevitable glitches -- well, Rome wasn't built in a day, but it got built.
Cheers.

6. "pass. the. damn. bill." |
|
Could not agree more. I too am feeling pretty good about the bill's chances of passing. Minority and struggling communities need this. Desperately. Do a search on minority organizations, minority medical schools, and public policy groups aimed at minorities and see how they feel about this reform -- they are damn near universal in their support.
And girl, I'm so worn down by DU that I'm starting to forget what damn ocean I travel to to get to Oz. It's the freaking PACIFIC and not the Atlantic. (shaking my head and laughing) Just reason number 631 that I need a serious break. :)

7. How much support did he get in the last election? |
|
That should be a big indicator of his vote getting ability. As far as I know he was the same Dennis that he is now.
No one was stopping anyone from voting for him ~
The President was in his home state yesterday and the crowd seemed to be Fired Up and they also gave Dennis a big round of applause.
So he is appreciated by the people that were attending the Rally for the President.

16. The funniest is when people claim "tons" of Democrats DO agree with him. |
|
It ignores the fact that he has run for president twice now in the Democratic primaries and has never gotten about 1 or 2 percent of the vote, never higher than 5th or 6th place - if that. Those aren't polls that can be spun or whose methodologies can be attacked - those are actual election results!
Why is that if Kucinich supposedly has so much support among Democrats? I bet the excuse has "DLC" and "corporatist" in it. :eyes:

11. I doubt it. They'll find some why to convince themselves he improved the bill |
|
all on his little lonesome.
There is a rumor out there that a public option is in the House reconciliation bill. My guess is that DK had nothing to do with it if it is, because I think a lot of people in the House have had it with his shenanigans. But his followers will support his inevitable grand standing saying that if it had not been for "this one great man" that it would have never happened. No matter how paltry it is.

14. Yeah, that's why I posted his switch to undecided. It was predictable and has nothing to do |
|
with anything going into the bill. It's more Kucinich political grandstanding.

I am having a hard time keeping up with him right now and where his positions are.
If you listen to the TV, the closer we get to HCR in some sectors, suddenly the talking heads who said the world would end for the Democrats if it did not pass, are suddenly knee capping it.
