If Iowa "gave" us Obama, Obama supporters could return the favor |
|
AND possible even secure that state in November..for about $10.
Obama HAS a grassroots organization there, and apparently the red Cross has run out of money (apparently donors do not trust their leadership).. We all know FEMA's track record..
What if Obama asked his 1.7 million donors to step up and donate $10 each to a special flood fund that could be set up ..
$17 million hard cash..could go a long way to showing how an emergency is really handled..and would also show just how much we all appreciate their good judgement, all those months ago.. Had Iowa rejected him, he would never be where he is now..]
This would also be a great way to "change the subject"..
Just thinking outside the box..

1. Works for me. Now, how do we set up such a fund, in the name of Citizens for Obama of course? |

3. It is a good idea, but hardly enough |
|
I wrote Obama on the truth of what we need.
1.- The ARC needs to admit reality and place a call to Geneva... that will release THAT logistics chain... and after Katrina they did.. and I am sure they got quite the talk down. By the way, then you'd be able to GIVE to the ICRC US Fund, and that would mean certain controls on that money as well
2.- WE need to get teams on the ground, And the time is running short.
3.- Having done logistics in disasters I know that 17 million, though welcomed, are a drop in the damn bucket. This disaster needs about three hundred million to get resources on the ground... as we would have to buy things like heavy equipment, or rent it. And the operators for that.
Now let me reach for the tinfoil hat
I suspect they ... and I mean those in power, don't want to do any of this... as they don't want the eyes of others in the area, and I need to ask why. They're also punishing the midwest for doing this (Obama)

4. What you say is more than true, BUT |
|
I know that if this had happened to ME or my family, I would welcome ANY assistance, and would also be appreciative if it came from an unexpected source..
The fact is that MANY of these people will be PERMANENTLY displaced.
A family who rented an old house, is likely to be S.O.L. ..Not many renters have or can afford renters' insurance, and if the landlord had no flood insurance, that family is homeless.. If the landlord did have insurance, it will be months..and if a settlement is arrived at, he/she may or may not even rebuild..and if they did rebuild, the rent for a brand new place would probably be out of the question for the displaced renters..
For owner-occupied residences, the situation is almost worse, since they have literally lost-everything..and if they also lost their job, they have no options..

5. I know that why I begged and asked to get the ARC |
|
call Geneva, to get that international aid.
We need trained people on the ground, and we need them yesterday... and many countries would gladly send them, we just need to "cry uncle." But we are "too proud."
I can't do more than tell them what they need and give money to the organizations, (local or national) that are on the ground
As to this being by design, absolutely it is by design... and it does not matter where the disaster happens, they will abandon those on the ground.. it is the only way to get the conditions just right for disaster capitalism
