"I screwed up", something bush NEVER said about anything for 8 years |
|
Yesterday President Barack Obama said, and I quote, "I screwed up", in regards to the Tom Daschle debacle. He said it. He admitted he screwed up. He admitted to being fallible and human, something bush absolutely refused to do for eight fucking years and untold thousands of dead people.
When bush was asked if there was ANYTHING he'd regretted doing, and he absolutely refused to admit to any kind of screw up, bush's don't admit screwing up, that's for others to admit. Only a bush could have such a monstrous ego as to never admit screwing up, ever, even once.
It's god damned refreshing to hear a politician ADMIT that they screwed up, it takes a MAN to face up to his errors and admit it in public.
Sharp contrasts between this president and the last will continue to manifest themselves in the future, this being a prime example.
No president in history has EVER screwed things up as badly as bush, and no president in history ever denied his responsibility so glaringly as bush.
Right on President Barack Obama. We all screw up from time to time, we're human, and the bigger people admit it openly and freely.

1. Bush is constitutionally incapable of admitting failure of any kind |
|
This is the difference between a man and a little boy. Men admit and own up to their mistakes of which we all have from time to time.

3. Actually King George did admit to a mistake. |
|
Not anything he did, it was his administrations propaganda effort that fell short according to him. To him there are no failures that can't be covered up by a pile of lies.

4. OMFG! The standard political rule of thumb for the past thirty years, at least, |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 06:47 AM by bushmeister0
is that you never admit a freaking mistake. Whether you're a Republican or a Democratic president you never admit you've done anything wrong. Jimmy Carter's great sin was admitting he, and we, weren't perfect. It's something us Democrats have been suffering for ever since. That's why W. would never be drawn into that kind of conversation. That's rule # 1. He may have been delusional, but he wasn't suicidal. There's a reason you never admit you fucked up.
And most especially you never say it in the form of a freaking sound bite!!! Because, your enemies can do stuff like play it over and over again just like NPR's Morning Edition is doing right now.
He's just coined the phrase they'll all be using to characterize his administration from here on out. "I screwed up." "I screwed up." "I screwed up." "I screwed up." "I screwed up." "I screwed up." "I screwed up."
He said it, we're just confirming it.
Wow. This is the problem with having acedemics in political office. They know all the theory, they know the history, but they don't have any pratical experience or any freaking Goddamn common sense. Jesus!

6. Change You Can Believe In... |
|
Yes, President Obama...standing by Tom Daschele was a screw up. So was nominating him knowing not only his possible tax problems but other ethical messes that didn't even come forward. Good he cut the losses but it created a diversion the repugnicans desperately wanted and the corporate media is feeding on. It's pulled focus off of important issues and now let's see how he can refocus things.
No doubt, after 8 years of the most arrogant and ignorant person to ever hold high office, it's great to hear a President admit to being human. The proof though is not admitting the problem, but what one does to fix it. While it's an error of judgement, it's not an error of negligence...or one I suspect this President will compound like the previous regime.
The problem ahead is the corporate media attempting to put the blame of the past 8 years on Preident Obama. I'm already seeing not just in the media but here on DU, people expecting the world to change on a dime...everything of the last 8 years to vanish and retribution to ensue...all without understanding the messes left behind for this administration to clear up and the priority to prevent this country from sliding further. We're seeing people with little tolerance and are hoping for President Obama to fail...even if it means the country goes to hell.

7. bush left office thinking he had done a great job. |
|
After 8 years of miserable, wretched failure in every imaginable area, this most worthless of presidents praised himself one final time and then departed, leaving the huge mess he had made for someone else to clean up. Exactly like everything else in his damned cursed life. He screws up, thinks he did great, gets bailed out by someone rich, and moves another rung up the ladder. What's next for him, Lord Of the Universe? Imagine how he could screw that up!
How refreshing it is to finally have a president who acknowledges that sometimes a person "screws up" during his first month on a new job, especially if that new job happens to be the single hardest job in the world.
bush and the other conservative nuts are completely lacking in self-awareness to a degree that is surely pathological if not psychotic. As Austin Powers would say, "they have no internal monologue." And these are the people whose "ideas" have controlled our nation since the Misrule Of St. Ronnie!

and he would never in a million years admit it. Nor would Deadeye Dick.

14. Well, We KNOW It Wasn't Going To Be The Silverspoon |

Paul Simon apologized for voting for some of Reagan's proposals when he was a Senator, and things didn't exactly work out by the late 80's.
Clinton apologized for lying to the american people about Lewinsky.
But, we both know we're never going to hear anybody in the Bush mob apologize, even if they actually become aware that they did something badly. GAC
