The Republicans hate our government. They love our country.
They can wave the flags and recite the Pledge of Allegiance with the best of them. Nobody can question their love for this country. They always support our military.

However, they hate big government. They even hate little government. They hate all government. That could be one reason that they have such a difficult time making government work when they are in power?

They will tell you point blank that they want government small enough to drown in a bathtub. What do they mean by that?

They have a deathly fear of debt and deficits when the Democrats are in power, But it is they that run up the debt and deficits to intolerable levels every time they win an election. It is not done by accident. It is done on purpose.

If they can destroy this government by running us so far in debt that there can be no social programs at all, then they see that as the ultimate victory. Reagan believed it and George W Bush believed it in spades. Those two presidents are mostly responsible for the majority of the debt and deficits we now encounter under President Obama. There are some that believe George W Bush came out with the TARP bailout in his last few weeks in office, just as a final nail in the coffin. Let's break this government to the point it cannot be fixed.

Now, in self-righteous fear and anger, they scream that Obama is destroying our nation with his big spending programs and his "socialism". They thought government was dead. Now Obama has breathed new life into it and it is like a Frankenstein monster. They are deathly afraid of the government that has survived their blood-letting.

They tried to kill government once and for all. They did everything conceivable to wipe the US Government off the face of this earth. They spent us into oblivion. Wars and huge Medicare programs that they put on the credit card. Everything was put on the credit card. They doubled the national debt in just eight short years.

Yet, they now express their deep concern for the spending programs of Barack Obama. They hate the fact that he may have saved this government. They thought they had killed it...

2. If the Republicans really love our country--
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 07:43 AM by Louisiana1976
how can the Bush Administration have allowed New Orleans to drown, then leave her to rot? New Orleans is a part of our country. I'm with #1--the Repubs really don't like many of their fellow Americans.

7. I listened to death metal as a teen
And I play it as an adult. I am no anarchist, and neither are ANY of the death metallers I know.

If you are going to use a form of music to disparage Republicans, leave my favorite form of music the fuck alone. You have no idea what you are talking about.

You're probably right, however, but the image they sell is quite different and THAT is what people see first.

5. they hate government, but whenever they are in charge, government seem to get bigger
and more intrusive. it's so odd, but it's true. they bitch about 'tax and spend liberals', but they spend and spend without taxing... they are still spending. they are just not paying for it. leaving it for someone else to pay for. like someone who goes to dinner with a friend and orders the most expensive thing on the menu and skips out before the bill comes, leaving the friend to pay the tab. remember how george w bush was the guy people wanted to have a beer with?? well, looks like he got them drunk and stole their wallet and left them passed out on the floor in the bathroom of the bar. apparently, when they woke up they didn't think it was him who stole their wallet, but some black guy.

They love the imaginary, fairy-tale, saccharine, Hollywood view of America from the 1950s. Ronald Reagan never had to deal with brown-skinned people or hippies in HIS movies, why should they have to deal with them today?

10. "They always support the military."
Tell that to the men and women who endured the filth and rot of Walter Reed.

The military is nothing but a club and money making machine to them. They don't give a rat's ass about the people.

15. BINGO!
They use the military as backdrop for their little propaganda photo ops, then kick them to the curb. What was it Bib Babs said about flag draped coffins at Dover AFB, something about her "beautiful mind"?

I am so glad I retired in'91. I'd have been facing a Courts Martial under Bush/Cheney!

13. they don't hate the government
the higher level operatives in the republican party are stingy enough to hate that someone less fortunate might receive benefits.

government is okay when it allows drugs to be fast tracked to market

government is okay when defense contractors are getting fat checks to promote the slaughter of brown people

government is okay when corporations get their own form of welfare

22. The military is not the country. They really only love themselves
They hate it's citizens; everyone who is not white, healthy, young, male, "Christian", republican and straight.

They hate it's land unless they can profit from it. They see no value in a mountain unless it can be bombed for coal profits, no value in a redwood forest unless it can be leveled for timber profits, no value in a historic site unless a giant Walmart supercenter can be planted on it. Nature's beauty as "God man it" is nothing more than a vile untapped resource to them, just waiting to be destroyed.

They hate the very basis for America; a government of the people, by the people and for the people. The foundation of this Nation is the very thing they want to destroy.

The military alone is not the United States of America. Neither is Wall Street. They love two American institutions, but the DO NOT love their country.

26. um, exactly what is "our country?"
Is it the 300,000,000+ citizens?

Is it the geography that those citizens inhabit?

Is it a set of beliefs?

Is it a political system?

Is it the name?

Seriously. Exactly what do people mean when they say they "love our country?"

27. They don't love America as a country. They love the might of a strong military power that has been
America. They are cowards and hid behind the bully power of America. When they claim to be against government they dont mean as a whole, they mean they are only against the social portions of government. They love Homeland Security and they would never disband FEMA which can give billions of no bid contracts to their friends. They would be completely happy for a fascist government.

But our problem isnt what the republicans want because they are only a distraction. Corporate power has taken control of the Democratic Party as well as the repub party.

The next world empire wont be a country it will be a corporation conglomerate.
