1. Individuals having control over their health care = a loss of freedom to wingnuts. They would
rather the insurance companies control it for them. It's easier than having to think.

writing that in 1979 because America was never the same after that election cycle.

Fortunately she will never see the bad things she envisions come to fruition.. Maybe she and other of her ilk will finally get a chance to realize the truth. If not I truly feel sorry for them in their sad little self made dungeons.

10. Gee - that is how I felt Dec. 12, 2000
When the US Supreme Court took away Floridians' right to control the way our votes were counted. Tell your sister in law she is ten years too late to mourn the loss of "Freedom in America."

12. Your sister is exaggerating, but so are you.
We are not losing our freedom.

There will be little change in our health care insurance system.

We have a lot more work to do to lower health care costs and prevent our health care dollars from going to profits for the rich and exorbitant salaries for health care insurance company managers.

13. Ask her to show you what she wrote down before Bush gave
Haliburton Billions of her "Grandchildren's" money?

Funny how republicans are so darn concerned about our financial future NOW - now that they look like self serving pompus ASSES.

And if her kid wakes up tomorrow with some horrible disease, make sure she calls and thanks you and the democrats for ensuring that her insurance company won't jack her primium or kick her off.

14. These people will look like such fools
when the benefits of this legislation (imperfect as it is) are realized, and nobody has lost their "freedom."

A year from now they will still be able to dress up like Paul Revere and hold up misspelled signs and rant about "socialism" on street corners and nobody will take them away.

They'll still have their guns.

They'll still be able to go to church.

Their lives will be the same; maybe a little better for some who will have access to health insurance that they didn't have before.

I wonder if they'll admit that their "freedom" still exists?

23. She's right but for the totally wrong reasons (I guess that makes her still wrong)
This has nothing to do with insurance reform.

We've been in the process of losing our freedom for the last thirty years or more - the slow and painful coup d'etat of our economic masters replacing popular representation with representatives for Wall St.

The slow and painful coup that included the slashing of taxes on the super-rich by 10, no 20, no 30, no 40, no over FIFTY PERCENT...

The slow and painful coup that watched rules be removed or lightened allowing more and more corporate bribe money to flow into political pockets...

The slow and painful coup that saw the evisceration of labor unions - the last voice and protection of working class Americans.

The slow and painful coup that saw the criminalization of society - throwing more and more people into prison than any other industrialized country on the planet...

The slow and painful coup that saw the deregulation of commerce, the fleecing of Americans, the stripping of their rights of protest (free speech zones!) of legal recourse (SC rules in favor of corporations at a 20:1 ratio).....

The slow and painful coup that saw workers wages flatline or decline for decades up until today, that saw poverty rise, with only minor half % fluctuations downward in sporadic years...

We've seen American citizens detained without trial....

We've seen the USA Patriot Act strip us of rights....

We've seen FISA laws strip us of privacy....

We've seen President's declare universal power to arrest and detain anyone simply by declaring them an "enemy" of the state....

I often try to think about to what it was like before we lost our freedom in America.... but I was too young to remember. :(

Lets' start with the "Patriot Act' missy and work from there. We were shit on by the * thugs for eight years. If you missed it, sorry. This woman is beyond repair, trust me. Don't waste your time or breath. The fact that these hateful people have finally woken up is too bad. Can we please educate her about the illegal wars that are just now beginning to be repaid. I am not kidding....write her off!
