I'm not sure what we're supposed to expect as a result of this. I'm out of the loop.

Is it Sen. Sander's intention to talk until he gets what he wants?

Is he looking to replace the bill with anything or does he just intend to block it from any vote? How successful might that be?

Or, is he just going to hold the floor for a time until he feels he's made his point? What's the effect on the other items Senators hoped to get a vote on? A protracted filibuster might provide cover for those who don't want those other items to proceed and who may claim time for all of that has been taken away by the time spent for Sen. Sanders' lecture (which, btw is must-hear material).

Wondering what to make of it all.

1. They either have a fucking package that is better than the compromise
package and will actually PASS with 60, or they need to move on with things.

2. No, he will follow the Senate Rules...demand a vote
that requires 60 like minded individuals to overrule him. He is joined, I understand, by DeMint. Talk about strange bedfellows.

3. it sure is strange to see any alignment with DeMint - Did you get to hear Sen. Sanders at all?
He's made a brilliant economic argument . . . I wonder if DeMint agrees with a fraction of it?

4. DeMInt, as Understand it...
is opposed to extending Unemployment and other "liberal" ideas that are not paid for by cuts to the budge in other places. Typical Republican bullshit.

From what I've read, they don't agree with each other on the reason to filibuster. They are allies of convenience.

7. True and DeMint wants the taxcuts for the rich to be made permanent
Limbaugh even has come out against the Bush/Obama Taxcut for the Rich bill for the same reason.

6. This is a good speach but not a filibuster...
in accordance with Senate rules. Unless he declares a filibuster and forces procedural votes, this speach means nothing and the bill will sail on to passage over the Senator's no vote.
