Democrats favor tax deal 48%-38%, liberals 43%-41%
A plurality of Democrats (48%) share that view but 38% of those in the president’s party are opposed.

Political liberals are evenly divided—43% favor the deal and 41% are opposed.

1. I remain undecided
There are some good things and some bad things in it. In the end, you have to be either for it or against it.

Internet message boards make it hard to articulate an undecided position succinctly.

21. WTF?
Edited on Sat Dec-11-10 06:24 PM by Red Knight
The Council of Economic Advisers recently estimated that an end to these benefits would cause the loss of 600,000 jobs and cut already-inadequate economic growth by 0.6 percentage points by the end of next year, quite a large amount; Goldman Sachs recently made a similar estimate of the impact on economic growth

This guy posts Goldman Sachs as a source--for anything?

No thanks.

11. The decision was easy .

. Look to graphs by economists calculating it's costs..
.. the goobers tax cuts for rich, around 815 billion..
. For the Dem's ... extension of unemployment 56 Billion and 120 billion for the payroll tax holiday( from social security.)
which will help to undermine social security .. Which is sufficient grounds to oppose .
... 815 billion for the gobbers vs 176 for us.. Are we that foolish.

20. since the deal is only for two years
it does not necessarily mean $815 billion for the Republicans. Also, the payroll tax holiday is NOT a big victory for progressives. http://journals.democraticunderground.com/hfojvt/135

4. I wonder if that has anything to do with the unemployment extension being part of it.
Edited on Sat Dec-11-10 04:14 PM by Edweird
Nah. Liberals hate social security and love tax cuts for the wealthy.

I'm reminded of FDR's famous quote "We have nothing to fear but high taxes for the wealthy". Inspiring words.

7. You're using Rasussen?
Try something a bit more credible. Rasmussen is the poll 'Pugs use to show that everybody loves Bush.

8. Rasmussen? Are you serious? Lets wait for some credible polls, shall we?
I'll tell you this. I teach in a trade school for adults, mostly from the "inner city" (euphemism alert) and the vast majority of the students are talking about this deal and most of them think O has sold us all down the river for nothing.

Just anecdotal, of course, but it seems to me that if these guys think this deal sucks, it must come with pre-puckered lips.

And screw Rasmussen on general principles.

I never heard about this poll but then again I have FOX on permanent block on my cable box.

Least accurate, and most Right-biased political pollster in America. Push polls.

16. Haaaahaaa! I knew before I even clicked on this thread what to expect: when folks don't like the
outcome of a poll, they declare it either to be meaningless, or dismiss the pollster as some kind of ideological bogeyman or partisan hack.

When they like the results of any given poll, however, it becomes etched in granite as an irrefutable fact.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

19. I wonder how many unemployed people receiving unemployment...
insurance benefits for an extended amount of time voted repuke? They should thank Obama because their own party doesn't care about them - they're being used as human shields.
