Finally finished blocking my last lace project
Only place I could take pictures was to hang it on the clothesline.

4. Getting off my butt to block it out took almost
as long as it did to knit it. (A couple months)

15. I'd call it
"Amazing Lace."

Stunning work!

2. Oh, my, that's beautiful!
How long did it take to make? This may be a dumb question but is that tatting or crochet? I'm not exactly sure what the difference is. Thanks for sharing! :hi:

5. I had no idea you could knit lace!
I still need to make some afghans for my daughters but then I'd like to get into some prettier, more intricate projects. I have a learn-to-knit kit (something for a baby, if I recall -- it's been in a drawer for awhile!) Maybe someday I can make something beautiful like your topper!

6. Actually, knitting lace is very easy.
Counting out the patterns is a pain but stitch markers help. Flat lace for shawls and scarves are really simple. I've almost finished the shawl in the baby alpaca that I've been working on. Will post pictures of that when I get it blocked out. And my next project in lace will be this:

7. Gorgeous!!!...
Absolutely Beautiful China_cat. Are you keeping for yourself?
How did you block it? I HATE to block anything but once you do it..It wasn't so bad after all! I love to make tablecloths and doilies but I have so many now I haven't made one in awhile. There are so many beautiful threads out now I think it may be about time...UMmmmmm

10. Don't know if I'll keep it. I don't go anywhere to wear
something like that.

As for blocking it, since it's a cotton yarn and circular shape, I was able to pin out a section at a time starting with the center and use my Scunci steamer with the hose and steam pad. It works nicely. On the wool I'll most likely have to order a set of blocking wires. Steam on wool isn't going to work.

8. that's gorgeous!
what kind of yarn did you use? i've started a lace scarf but ended up frogging it because i lost count, and just forget about picking up your stitches in lace!

9. It's a variegated cotton. Can't find the label right now to
tell you which one. Yes, I know what you mean about picking up stitches in lace. Easier to tear it out and start again. I have found that you lose less with bamboo needles. The stitches don't slide off as easily when you aren't looking.

11. Bamboo needles...
Are great aren't they!!! I have to rip back if I drop stitches-it just never seems to look right when I try to fix it.

And my favorite color too! It would take me years to do that.

13. Lovely!
That's some gorgeous work! You should put that in the state fair. I know I've been telling everyone lately to do it, but I was shocked last year at some of the things that won--nowhere near as nice as other pieces that never got sent in.

:wow:

It isn't right to nominate lace for Greatest Page, is it?
I have been working on some lace, too. A washcloth. You don't want to know how long it's taking me.
