No Cut in Money for Abortion Providers
"No Cut in Money for Abortion Providers
By ANDREW TAYLOR – 2 days ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate blocked a bid by anti-abortion forces Thursday to cut off money for clinics that provide family planning and other health services in addition to abortions.

By a 52-41 vote, the Senate rejected a proposal by Sen. David Vitter, R-La., to stop funding health clinics, Planned Parenthood and other providers of reproductive health services if they use money from nonfederal sources to perform abortions.

The issue arose during the Senate's second day of debate on a health and education spending bill that finances hundreds of programs, including one dealing with federal family planning efforts."

More good news. Except the bill was rejected by only an 11 vote margin. No one should have voted for it, it's pure idiocy.

1. I'm SO pleased to hear this...!
:bounce: Thank you for the story link!

I dislike that they are labeling clinics as "abortion providers" because they do so much more, and abortions are actually a small part of what they offer. It bugs me that even reporters are swayed by that. I wonder if they are aware that most clinics don't even offer abortions all week--some only do abortions a few times a week.

2. It does make a difference! Having the majority means alot
to choice, maintaining funding for women's health, etc.

They formally fought against federal money for abortions. Now they fight against federal funding for a clinic that performs many services, including abortion. If they are ever able to get rid of abortion rights, they'll go after birth control next. Like Romania under Nikolai Ceausescu.

3. And the movement they build to fight abortion and then
birth control will also be used to fight LGBT rights, and it will be used to demonize and persecute single people who have sex before marriage (selectively, of course, so that their own kids don't get targetted).

They're anti-sexuality in all its forms. x(
