I'm really worried about this board... |

and "liberal Bloggers". Normally, I am a balls-to-the-wall kind of person, but in the back of my mind, I am worried about the effect all of this shit will have on Obama and Joe...anyone else worried about it? The attacks from the right seem to be coming faster and faster, even if they are bullshit.

1. Personally, I'm appalled that the moderators didn't reign in some |
|
of the extreme stuff. Things about Palin that you would think would have been thrown to the Lounge or locked were on the front or greatest page.
Hope I don't get in trouble for posting this, though my alerts have gone unanswered.
I was also pissed about how far downhill things went in the days before and after the VP selection. I begged them for a policy like they had at the end of the primaries - that we're supposed to support the nominees or go elsewhere. I got no response and others told me not to worry. It wasn't just about Joe-bashing either, there was mean stuff about multiple Dems, though he probably got the most hate. Which makes his current support on DU all the more surprising.
What has had the worst impact on DU's servers? Not primary debates, not the end of the primary contest, not the DNC convention, but everyone having to post their individual snark-thread on DU.
I'm in the middle of moving so I'm too busy for much on DU anyway, but it's a shame that any post about Obama and Biden (photos, video links, etc.) sink or you can't even post them because of the traffic glitches. I haven't been able to catch things live so it would be nice if I could find useful news and Biden links without so much hunting. At least this forum has still been reasonable.

3. Our safe little oasis... |

I wish I could stay here all night, but I have to go do the Election Reform thread. I hope the servers don't give me too hard of a time. If they do, it will be a very short thread.
Yes, this is the reasonable place. All those ugly threads have been disturbing, and there are so blasted many of them.
Well, wish me luck!

4. It's as if a lot of people have just lost their minds... |
|
they are so full of rage and anger, over things that happened in the past, and I get that. But this is starting to go right back to Obama, and we can NOT afford to jeopardize him. That's what they are doing, and that is why all of the recent attacks on Joe and Obama. They don't get it. They think there is a disconnect between his supporters and him, but there isn't.
I truly fear that this might come back to haunt them all. I really do. That would be devastating to millions of people.

everything that has been posted on this board for the last 4 days! Obama has disassociated himself from the "liberal bloggers". Obviously some of the initial gossip started on this board. This all makes Obama look bad, and forces him to have to defend himself over, and over....
It's just pure shit. If they want to bitch about the issues, then fine. But leave the Jerry Springer shit out of it.
Not to mention that it continues to crash the board.
I have a really bad feeling about this....in a Karmic way.

6. I think that people are just giddy that McCain's choice was such a gift -- |
|
and are reveling in the fact that there really is dirt on Palin. They're (and sometimes I join in) engaging in the same crap that the Reps have subjected our candidates to. Payback feels good. Lashing out at those who hurt us.
I'm in agreement that some of it has gone too far, but other rants are valid, IMO.
I don't think this board is any worse than the others, and I also think it'll die down soon.
I understand what you're saying, though, and agree to a certain extent. But I don't feel it'll stick to Obama any more than all the crap that has been said about Obama has stuck to McCain. The only people, again IMO, who will be up in arms about it are those who are supporting McCain anyway. Just like we were the only ones up in arms when all the Obama smears were living in the headlines.
And if there will be a karmic retribution, I honestly think it'll land on the Republicans - they've been far more vicious and hateful than we have.
I'm sorry it's worrying you and my other Bidenite pals. :pals:

and most of it has been crap that I don't care to get involved with. Now we're getting some real dirt on her as both a mayor and a governor, instead of the National Enquirer crap.
Meanwhile, it isn't just DU. It is all over the Internet and I think a lot of it originated in Alaska. It appears there has been plenty of gossip up there for quite a while.

8. I've been keeping a low profile in GDP |
|
Last week was a total zoo after she was announced. I made a few choice comments, but stayed away from the really nutty threads. It's like some sort of troll-hell was unleashed upon DU. :eyes:
Bottom line is, Palin is too inexperienced to be a heartbeat way from the Presidency, and we don't need another GWB/Darth scenario for 8 years. I tell those few undecided friends, try to imagine what this country would look like under ANOTHER 8 years of far right, mob Republican rule. They shudder.
