Why has DU become Cheerleading Central?

DU has changed from a Progressive Discussion Board to Cheerleading Central for anything stamped with the letter "D." Dissent will not be tolerated. Any opinions other than that of the mods will be taken down, the nail, hammered down.

I'm sure many of you disagree. That's your right.

Critical Thinking is essential here - and that is exactly what is being squelched. Yes, it is censorship. Yes, the Admins have a right to do it, but at the same time, this place becomes more and more Dittohead. Know what that is? Back when Rush Limbaugh first started, he encouraged his listeners who agreed with him to call in and just say "ditto." No thought, no critical thinking, no reason, just seig heil and fall in line. That same mentality is now here. Congratulations.

And what's sad is that what is happening here has happened across this country. There is not a single party that gives a rat's ass about the middle class, let alone the impoverished class. They might say great things, the kind of things that make for great bumper stickers - but they are all short on results. And when they do something, it's usually the opposite of what they promised.

Yet we continue to take it, salute it and fall in line. March, don't think. Follow, don't reason.

Like our country, this board could have been so much more. At times, it even has. Do yourself a favor and look through the threads from its inception to about 2008. You'll see real discussions, opinions, reason and debate. You'll also see a lot of fighting, but in the end, parties made up because we were all fighting for the same thing.

Not so much any more. In fact, not at all. You either support the President, or you get your threads locked. You either make excuses for our party's backstepping, or you shut up.

And when all else fails, personal attacks are always tolerated when its against one of those dissenters. If you call a dissenter names, or make jokes at his or her expense, you get a pat on the back.

I am not leaving. No, that would reward too many people of no conscience. I will continue to annoy them until I am dead. Lattlay-Fottfoy as they say.
