Old Crank
Old Crank's JournalSt. Joseph's church, Le Havre, France
The day we arrived in Le Havre was grey , windy and wet. St. Joseph's was rebuilt on the spot of previous churches. The one before this was reduced to ruble be before the Allies pushed the Germans out in 1944.
Architect Auguste Perret. Foundation laid 1951 and completed in 1956. Brutalist style. When you leave by ship it is the last thing you can see and the first thing you see coming in. Day 2 had sun so the building has a different character.
Day 1,

New cross over the entrance.

Sunny day

At sunset from St Malo
It was nice to be able to spend 2 full days in this town. Better having good weather also.

Baking powder.
Here in Germany backing powder is usually sold in little packets. 1 Tablespoon or 15 grams per package. It is single acting.
Any way at one of my local stores I found a new product. I know it is new because it has 'neu' on the front.
Backin Pulver, backpulver for Air Fryers... 3 packets for 80 cent.
I buy the off brand of regular powder, 10 pkg for about 79 cent. The air fryer packages are 11 grams each, so you get less. I guess this makes some sense since air fryer recipes are smaller than regular oven ones.
If I get a specific recipe for my air fryer I'll just measure out the amount needed.
St. Vincent Cathedral, St. Malo, France
This is a cathedral that gave to blessing to Jaques Cartier, 1530ish for his voyage to discover Quebec and the St. Laurance river. Some one I learned about in my grade school history classes. There is a commemorative plaque on the floor. It started out as Roman construction and was converted to gothic. The Roman arches weren't as strong as they could have been so you can see remnants of them in the church today. We had a sunny day so we got some good side lighting inside. We also got to hear their organ while the organist was practicing.

Don't know how often the light hits the statue of Mary.

Side lighting through the stained glass.

The remnants of Roman arches.

From Krugman
I couldn't get the damn thing to copy so here is the gist of it.
From K,
I don't normally use audio stenographers but I did this time. I said "Strait of Hormuz" and it turned it into,
"Street of Hormones".
Which sounded about right....
It is all about the Benjamins.
According to my daily Economist email rounding up US news, where they mentioned Trumps signature on bills and his face on a gold coin, the next step will be replacing
"It's all about the Benjamins,"
With
"It's all about the Donald's."
Updated my voter information
The registrar for my county sent out a note to remind us that we should update our data for voting.
Easily done and now we wait for ballots for the CA primary.
The big question is should we try to find a fax here or mail the completed ballots in. We have some concerns about the mail.
