If the Committee does not send a criminal referral to the DOJ...?

It will not be sent because of Liz Cheney. She wants a criminal referral sent because she understands, "but for" the actions of Donald Trump, none of the crimes would have happened. He was the catalyst and the cause of all the illegal activities that they investigated.

Many will say that it doesn't matter, the DOJ will do what they want to do anyway. That may well be true, but to have the imprimatur of the US Congress behind your decision is a strong positive. And it would be the will of the majority of the US Congress.

It is time for the Congress and the DOJ to do what they have been hired and elected to do. The lies must cease. The time for game-playing and delaying justice is over. There must be accountability.

Trump is a one-trick pony.

He hasn't done anything illegal, and if he did, someone else did something much worse.

Everything is a "witch hunt" and he is always the "victim".

Anybody that says anything bad about him is obviously a "Radical Left Democrat".

Republicans have no backbone if they do not stand up and defend him, whatever the charge.

His actions are always "perfect", whether it is attempting to extort a foreign leader or stealing national secrets from the Archives. He has never done anything wrong.

The person that accuses him is a "bad person".

This has worked for him for the last seven years, and probably long before that.

The threat to our democracy is not over.

In fact, the threat may be stronger now than before the last election?

Trump has once again announced that he is going to run for the presidency. He is more desperate than ever to keep himself out of jail and to fight the numerous court battles now on the horizon. Once again, he is cozying up to the white nationalists and his most violent supporters. If possible, he will attempt to incite them to violence, as he has done before.

On the upside, there is hope that the new Special Counsel will bring charges against the criminal ex-president, but it is not a given. If he is not required to answer for what he has done to our country, the threat to our democracy will become much more pronounced. Elections will not save us from the fascists. Only accountability will protect our demcracy.

"But for" rule...

In regards to the criticisms of Liz Cheney and the work of the J6 Committee, it should be asked would any of the alleged crimes have been committed "but for" the actions and words of Donald Trump?

Was it wrong to put too much focus on Donald Trump?
==========

but for rule

n. one of several tests to determine if a defendant is responsible for a particular happening. In this test, was there any other cause, or would it have occurred "but for" the defendant's actions? Example: "But for" defendant Drivewild's speeding, the car would not have gone out of control, and therefore the defendant is responsible. This is shorthand for whether the action was the "proximate cause" of the damage.

In the slyest and sneakiest way possible, Trump is trying to incite the "white nationalists"...

...and the racists and the Nazi sympathizers. It cannot be good for America.

He is pretending he doesn't even know these people, but he will never say anything negative about them. He wants them to know that he is on their side.

He would like to be able to organize them into a violent mob, again. Like he did on January 6th.

And he uses the media to propagate the story. "Trump meets with white nationalists." That is the story he would prefer. The more the media can talk about it, the better for him to organize and incite the mob.

After his book tour, Mike Pence has become a very important witness.

He became much more vocal after the election and after his book came out.

He wanted everyone to know that he did not think the J6 Committee was "fair" and he said he had "closed the door" to talking with them.

He also said that during the insurrection, Trump was not part of the solution, he was part of the "problem". I'm sure the prosecutors would like to know more about what he meant by that?

He may have closed the door on the Committee but the DOJ has opened their door very wide for Mr Pence. He has a lot of information that no one else has access to, except the former Criminal-in-Chief himself. He needs to tell what he knows so we can try to resolve this crisis and get along with the country's business.

He needs to understand that it is highly unlikely that he will ever be in the White House ever again and he needs to step up and do what is best for the country.

Was it an attempted coup? Did Trump actually try to overthrow our government or was it all the brainchild of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers? Or did it go much deeper into our government?

Mike Pence could shed a lot of light if he could put politics aside and do the right thing.

The Republicans made a big mistake by not asking Donald Trump to make public his taxfiles in 2015

It created suspicions from the beginning.

What was he trying to hide?

He kept saying they were "in audit".

Here it is, 7 years later, and we still haven't seen his taxfiles?

If he is going to run for president again, he should be required to show his tax forms. The people need to know who their president is associating with. No exceptions.

Now, we hear that the House Ways and Means Committee is to finally get to see the tax records, after they were released by Chief Justice John Roberts.

People are sick of this Godfather shit.
