It wouldn't surprise me. He gives off signals that it appears he's not aware he's doing.

That happens a lot - with everybody. Your body language always gives you away. It used to amuse me to watch contradicta rice - literally a bobble-head when she'd be questioned or interviewed. How MANY times she'd be shaking her head "no" while her lips were telling you a "yes." And vice versa.

For the record - chris christie IS a bully and the Viceroy of Vendetta. Track record:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/25/nyregion/accounts-of-petty-retribution-reinforce-christies-bullying-image.html?_r=0

Great quote in here:

“Every organization takes its cues from the leadership as to what’s acceptable and what’s not, and this governor, in his public appearances, has made thuggery acceptable,” said Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski, the Democrat leading the hearings that have exposed the role of the governor’s aides in the lane closings. “For the governor to say, ‘I knew nothing about this’? He created the atmosphere in which this is acceptable.”

In case you're called upon to make the case that this is just one OF MANY examples of chris christie's thuggery. You'll undoubtedly come across apologists who desperately want to believe that this was a one-time-only "youthful indiscretion"-type thing. He did indeed lie during his press conference - that this is not the tone he's worked so hard to set in his administration over the past four years. BULLSHIT!!! It's his modus operendi. I'd bet it was so well-understood and ingrained within his inner circle, of which the hapless Bridget Anne Kelly and friends were members that they figured it was just standard operating procedure to "teach an adversary a lesson and show 'em who's boss."

Welcome to DU, Mimi23!

Glad you're here! Nearly two hours on the public grill and there remain so many questions. Hmmmm...

You asked many good questions just in this one post. We still have many. I agree - this is indeed far from over. The one big lie that practically smacked me in the nose from his press conference was how this was not the tone he set in his office over the past four years. WHAT????? I beg your pardon? He was - and is - the Viceroy of Vendetta, forcryingoutloud!

Is it bad that I'm smiling?

For someone who struts his stuff about how well-disciplined and in control his government is,

he sure doesn't know a whole lot about a whole lot.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Biggest lie of the news conference was his line about how this is not the kind of climate he's created in state government in the last four years?????? Are you freakin' KIDDING me?????

A VERY good case could be made for this.

Actually, chris christie himself embodies the whole concept of terrorism. His bullying and taste for political vendettas serve to intimidate and affect the behavior of those around him through fear. I've read many times how his past bullying and retaliatory tactics served two purposes: to punish the (perceived or real) political adversary; and to send a message to others who might be considering "making trouble" for him - to think twice before they try anything.

That IS terrorism.

ter·ror·ism
[ter-uh-riz-uhm] Show IPA
noun
1.
the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.
2.
the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3.
a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.

"Violence" here would apply to the loss of job, connections, prestige, funding - which has happened to his targets. Basically, you make somebody pay a very visible price for doing something to you that you don't like. The punishment is an outward sign that's easy to notice or to hear about on a broad public basis. Word gets around. And you've probably succeeded in heading off any further "trouble" from any further "troublemakers."

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
