Yeah, no kidding.

Reinforcing some TERRIBLY bad behavior. Giving it a human face, and a safe place to fester and grow, feeding and nurturing it so it's allowed to metastasize. He's done a HUGE disservice to this country. Much of the reason why we're so horribly divided (worse than I've ever seen, frankly) traces directly back to him and what he set in motion. Yessirree, roger, f you build it, they will scum.

I first heard a version of that from my dad, YEARS ago.

He was watching what I think was the "Phil Donahue Show" when it aired from Chicago - LONG before Oprah, and he said "who's that guy singin' through his nose?"

I cringed just a little - it was James Taylor.

Great minds... and all that!

I'm inspired!

Let's see...

Three Blind Mice.

Manny, Moe, and Jack.

Larry, Moe, and Curly.

Small, Medium, and Large.

Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Baby Bear.

Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry.

Beer, Wine, and Booze.

See-No-Evil, Hear-No-Evil, Speak-No-Evil.

Ketchup, Mustard, and Pickles. (Pickled?)

These republi-CONS. They sure do over-reach, don't they? HAH! - as I was typing this, my fingers wanted to say "over-rech." That overkill is gonna turn viewers off. Only the political junkies will watch til the bitter end of all three of these flapping mouths. I suspect whoever goes first will get whatever audience there is. Most other viewers will have had enough and will be bored by the time #2 steps up to the microphones. And by the time #3's turn comes, only #3's fans will still be hanging around. If they're not drunk and passed out by then - because of all the State of the Union drinking games that will be going on, on that side.

Oh criminy - now I hear there's actually FOUR of 'em, including ileana ros-lehtinen, doing the Spanish-language version. SHEESH. And now it's sean spicer on MSNBC, the newest RNC motormouth. Well, shit, why isn't he out there tonight, too? He never even stops to take a breath! Talk about the "spaghetti theory" (throw a plate of spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks)!

Humpty Christie!

ROFL!!!!!

The bigger they are... and all that.

Unfortunately there's nothing to celebrate yet. And I hesitate to start until this one's been played all the way out to the kind of conclusion we're hoping for, and that frankly, this smug bully deserves.

Y'know - it's ALWAYS come up a little short. I remember feeling incomplete while watching Watergate play out. Yep, nixon had to resign or face the impeachment he deserved. So he avoided the worst of it. Lots of "mistakes were made" weasel words. Back then it was "unindicted co-conspirator", a term that, at the time, I'd never heard before. And nixon survived to semi-rehabilitate himself and write books and do the David Frost interview and such, as an "elder statesman." He never served time, except maybe in self-imposed exile at his beautiful home overlooking the ocean in San Clemente with the fetching young Diane Sawyer at his elbow to be his personal scribe or secretary or errand-runner or some such thing. She was a White House aide at the time, and went with him in that helicopter that lifted off from the White House to take him outta there for the last time. He never served time. He never even saw the inside of a courtroom.

Same thing with fucking reagan and Iran/Contra. Only much later did the truth come out about how close he came to being impeached, and what herculean maneuvers by his apologists and handlers and trusty wife Nancy, to keep him out of trouble and maintain that "squeaky-clean" "legacy." That SOB never paid for that one. Never had to pay. Shit - he never even had to consider resigning.

And of course, then there's bush/cheney. Got off scott-free.

I observed one thing that seemed really key: those republi-CONS sure do stick together. WAY more disciplined. And yeah, WAY more Machiavellian. I don't remember any wholesale dumping on any of these guys by any in their inner circles - the way it happened to Bill Clinton during the whole Monica mess. MAN, Dee Dee Myers and George Stephanopolous were way out front, stomping their little feet and huffing and puffing and throwing their little hissy fits and flinging poo at him in public. It was all see-how-they-run. MORE than happy to go on all the Sunday talk shows and news shows at the time (not much cable except for CNN and Pox Noise was just getting started) to denounce him openly and carry on about how terribly horrible it was - and, especially, how terribly horrible he was. Political lice. NOBODY circled the wagons. Nobody closed ranks and went on offense. They all ran off and joined the Cat-Call Club. All of a sudden you saw this Lanny Davis dude whom nobody'd ever seen or heard of before, hauled out from the minor leagues to go on camera all over the place and present the lone voice in Clinton's defense. Schmucks. LOTS of 'em deserted him. The other side, on the other hand, stayed close and protected their quarterback and always shot outward rather than inward. Enviable. It's too bad, really. A whole lot of the real weasels are OURS.

ALL of 'em are gonna be legendary for their ineptitude.

But I've watched enough of these GOP phalanx displays at the microphone, and she always seems to be there as a prop. Kinda like - "oh yeah, get the girl in here somewhere, too." Like some fashion accessory the stylist thought they needed at the last minute to complete the photo shoot. Or like somebody's annoying kid sister who always tags along even when she's just in the way but Mom said you had to take her with you. She's had nothing to say that's impressed me yet. Now I have a better idea why.

Welcome to DU, Karia!

Good to have you with us! That's great news, btw! I think it IS like an addiction, and those bastards are doing everything they can to keep it well-fed and well-supplied. Glad to hear that your family elder kicked the habit. This dog trainer we know recommended that for our dog. When she starts chewing what she's not supposed to be chewing, give her something DIFFERENT to chew on. Fill the need with something else that's better! Maybe people operate and react the same way.

And unfortunately, so many of them have so damn much money.

But - the koch brothers aren't teenagers. I wrote upthread that the ONE thing that is comforting about the whole roger ailes stain - is his advancing age. He doesn't have decades left to continue to wreak havoc. Unfortunately there are still plenty of younger ones around to continue his "legacy" - like ted cruz and rand paul.

Welcome to DU, ninjanurse!

Glad you're here! There's no end to the long list of things for which I'll never forgive roger ailes. Schmuck! He sure did a lot to damage this country - from pushing both bushes on our nation to the slash-n-burn hatefest he's fathered through the Clinton era and into full flower with Pox Noise. What he has foisted upon this country and its psyche will take DECADES to undo. It's taken the bad guys since the reagan era to overrun this country and spread their opportunistic infections as far as they have. It'll take a LOT to reverse that. There'll have to be a wholesale turnover, that also includes - I'm sorry to say this but - a die-off. The elders in this country who believe the antiquated things they do, and have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the modern era and STILL don't come, and STILL fight it, and STILL do everything they can to turn the clock back, they have to take that with them to their graves. Bless their souls, but some of them have to age out and pass. Those who don't evolve, like the dinosaurs, eventually disappear. Whether they want to, or not.

The one thing that comforts me most about roger ailes is his advancing age.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
