Seriously. Asking because I just can’t figure it out. It feels almost like a syndrome being acted out. As a statement of defiance or something? Speaking STRICTLY physically, it’s extremely unappealing, pretty flat-out ugly at least to this female observer. Not neatly trimmed or shaped, even.

Asking because my husband has a beard and he DOES keep it neat and well-trimmed and well-managed. And it always looks nice. Some of these bearded insurrectionists look so unkempt that you’d suspect they must have a nice nest of fleas in there - or leftover lunch crumbs - or some such. Thoroughly ragtag and off-putting. Hard to describe how ugly that look is, strictly by itself, even WITHOUT the hateful context.
