About Me
Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Until his next one, most likely.
But I dunno - this one certainly qualifies for the “one for the ages” category. Just sums it all up.

like the proverbial toilet paper stuck in the bottom of their heel. And for a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGG time.
Heck, I saw file footage of Howard Baker interviewed toward the end of his life (died in 2014) and he didn’t even look like himself! He was the guy in the Senate Watergate hearings who first asked the question: “what did the president know, and when did he know it?”
And at that late date (of the interview) he was STILL answering questions about Watergate - something that came to a head in 1974.
This will follow THEM ALL. Til they breathe their last. EVERY. LAST. ONE. of them. And of the many offenders who designed, steered, or enabled the whitewash job we’ve been witnessing, that will never end.
They’ll wish and hope that we all will forget and get over it and stop caring about this justice denied, and move on.
And they’ll be W-R-O-N-G.

He no longer is vulnerable trying to hang onto his seat. Doesn’t have to run again. He’s out of range of any meaningful attack by trump. He’s in a perfect position to “go rogue.” He could vote his conscience and vote for country over party.
But then again, it may not be possible to vote one’s conscience if you don’t even have one.

I’ve long suspected he’s basically Just-Another-republi-CON: only in it for the money. If he REALLY cared about his country as the “patriot” he claims to be, he’d have put patriotism OVER party, in the name of doing the right thing, regardless. But he’s being cute and coy and only speaking out of there’s a pay check on the other end. Evidently he was speaking out last night - in a paid speech at a private event. And simply in it for the money (hi-just-buy-my-book!).

Sounds like exactly what the opposition hopes our attitude will be. Scoffing at it and calling it silly. One is more likely not to take things seriously, with a mindset like that, and sit back and just assume "everything's gonna be fine."
The only problem with that is - everything is certainly NOT fine at the moment, and it's steadily sliding in the "getting worse" direction.
We can't afford to assume everything will be fine. Unless WE take the bull by the horns and work for a better November - as though our lives depended on it. Because they very well may. After all, Bill Barr spoke at the Federalist Society last year and singled out "the Resistance" as a negative element in the American political landscape. That can only mean trouble ahead, especially if trump cheats himself into a second term.
"If we don't stand up for truth, now, it will be too late." NY Times' Mara Gay said that on MSNBC tonight. We ignore that warning at our peril, and all America's peril.

That's about the only card we have left to play at this point.
