Annoying film cliche: only evil people listen to classical music.

Cross-posted in the movie group.

Just once, I'd love to see a film protagonist listen to classical music and or opera with knowledge and enjoyment. But in films where someone is listening to classical music, they are almost always rubbing their hands in glee at some evil deed they have just committed, or are about to commit, and the music offers a dramatic counterpoint to the scene.

Sometimes I just want to drink myself insensible.

The Japanese believe that getting stinking drunk now and again, instead of being a character flaw, releases evil spirits and cleanses the soul, restoring wa, or harmony.

Mrs. Aristus strongly disapproves of alcohol. So my only chances to get plowed are when she's out of town. It's been a couple of years since that happened. Circumstances at home and in the news right now make me yearn for a chance to get completely lubricated. Don't worry; when it happens, I don't drive anywhere; I just stay home and either post a few drinking threads in the Lounge, or watch my favorite 'drunk-off-my-ass' movies, Blade Runner and Dark City.

I envy people who do a little weed on a regular basis. I love that giddy, lightheaded euphoria that accompanies mind-altering substances.

Anyway, thank you for joining me for this catharsis.

(BTW, I'm sober as a judge right now. Just looking forward to my next drinking night...)

I've got nine people crammed in to my house. Oy!

There's me and Mrs. Aristus, my father-in-law, my step-daughter, my son-in-law, and four kids under the age of ten.

Ugh.

No end in sight.

Hold me...

Why should a dog, a horse, a rat have life,
And thou no breath at all?"

Cautiously optimistic - I may not be losing the homeless clinic after all!

The manager of the facility that operates the homeless clinic (for which I provide medical care under contract) got sacked! He was the only person standing in the way of a contract renewal with our health organization. Now that he's gone, the contract will probably be re-signed and I can stay here with my patients.

This is great news!

Thank you to all of the Loungers who stepped in with comfort and encouragement when all seemed lost.

I love you all...

Finally: a Monday that doesn't make me want to try to tunnel out of the clinic.

And make a break for it like Steve McQueen in The Great Escape.

So far, it's been a pretty good day.

I'm so sick and tired of insurance companies requiring prior authorization for medication refills.

My authorization is: BECAUSE I SAID SO!...

Just do the insurance stuff, and let me do the medical stuff, thank you very much!...
